Got an 89 325i with 300K miles on it. had the short block replaced, and some extra engine work. Ran into a battery light issue, subsequently killed the battery driving home (40+ miles) and ended up replacing the alternator and 6yo batterybecause alt was reading 24 v and batt was reading 11.9. all that said, the battery light suddenly went off after checking fuse panel and it ran normal for 5 days. but now I am again having intermittent problems with the battery charging. Anybody know what might be wrong? already got a new alt., with volt. regulator and a shiny new battery. what else is there?

You could have a wiring problem somewhere. I'd suspect the engine bay since work was recently done there and it may be bad grounds.
