Took 1st place in Street RWD... 1st thing I ever won racing LOL... Former Bimmer owner and member Nihilation took 2nd place in Mod RWD in his NSX.. Awsome weekend, BeaveRun is very nice overall and the track is soo much fun!!! Just had to share my joy.. LOL... The car stills needs some sorting out and I need more seat time with the setup on the car to get more comfortable with it. I'll try to post pictures soon...

What laptimes were people running? How was the weather? and congrats!

My best was a 1.12 something, weather was coudly, high 50s to high 60s if the sun came out, it wasn't the greatest day, but not bad either... The car had a lot more left and I did too, but a early spin kinda slowed me down, D*mn coolant hose clamps failing...

congrats Draven and the others...Beaverun is a fun track...quite nice place! did you guys get a lot of track time or practice runs?

I'm thinking of doing one of these events, time attacks...wondering how they'd class a BMW CCA Prepared level car & NASA GTS-3 car? :dunno

I was thinking about the SPR Redline event, until I found out it was on the Shenendoa, the same weekend as the CCA race.

Yeah, the Redline guys put on a good event...somewhat more relaxed, but very professional & safe.

Austin ran 107.8 2nd place in the "Time Attack" on Sunday in the rear drive unlimited class (not bad in an everyday driver with R comps). I ran 104.5 1st place in rear drive unlimited.

The FTD was a 101.4 in a 500+HP Evo...a very strong car that just leaped out of the hair pin turn 11 corner. It took 1st unlimited AW drive & 1st overall.

The Redline guys have a "Time Attack" event planned for Summit Point. I think it's in August...although I think it's the Shenandoah course, still it would be great to get a bunch of the Mid Atlantic guys out for the event :cool

I got some great pic's of the weekend that I will get up later!

sounds great Bud...seems like you guys had a blast...a 104.5 around there is movin nicely, good job! I raced there in '04 in the Pittsburg GP weekend where they combined our races with the Vintage group before the Shenley Park weekend...I was running consistant 1:05's (dipped into the 1:04's in practice but didn't have the tire/grip to get into it in the race) and got by Sean Passen's D-Mod car for the overall win in Sunday's feature race...it's a short course so the times are going to be close (which is probably why this time attack was exciting no doubt there at beaverun)...I think the difference between a mod car and a prepared car would be 2 - 3 secs and in many cases less (depending on levels of optimization for each) in competition setting...

Yea the event was very safe. There was some passing under braking and in turns during practice, but that was very limited and they didn't black flag for it. I only regret that I didn't learn the car more and wasn't comfortable pushing it.. The word has it RRT maybe showing up with the Watts car.. I know the Buscher Evo will be back for what Fuller (i think that was his name) told me. Could turn out to be a awsome battle for the overall FTD.. I hope we see some more full bore RWD race cars show up to battle the explosion of AWD cars for overall class titles..

Sunir, I think I could have gotten into the 103's, (more time to gain in the braking zones at the end of the front & back straights) but it rained just as the last group of unlimited started out in the 2nd run of the "Time Attack"...so that was the end of the that opportunity:mad . Looks like you guys had a good time @ VIR!

That 325 is an awesome car!

I believe that the primered FOX Mustang was illegal due to the EVM 3-link rear suspension that it was running. Rules state that suspension design change is illegal. The car was pretty much gutted with a cage, 275/40 RA1's all around, pulled fender, disc brake conversion and making 290whp. He was pulling 1:06's...hauling ass!

In my class there was a stock 05 Saleen S281 which ran a 1:09.3 and an S2000 w/FK coilovers and some other basic stuff on RA1's that ran a few tenths slower. Somehow I pulled off a 1:09.1 in the rain to take 2nd place, I think I could go 1:07's if I had bigger balls through turn 7 and 9.

Nice pics!! BeaveRun is a cool track.

How was the event structured? Was only one car on the track at a time? How did they measure your time? Standing start?

2 timed heats...each heat had 1 warm up lap, 3 hot laps and 1 cool down lap.

Each car had a timing transponder...so you were at full speed when you crossed the start/finish line.

Most heats had 3 cars spaced out on the track...I did end up passing one car during one of my hot laps.

The approach was like get a solid lap on the board...and then let it all hang out...kind of like a NASCAR qualifying for the pole position.

It was a blast, but we missed you, Jed and Jessie this trip! :D

Time for more spring and/or less sway.

Yea...maybe, the pic is of the car coming off a pretty large concrete
burm in turn 6...I think.

Sent you a message...hope it doesn't crash your email as it was 10MG's!

Man, that sounds really cool. Sounds like a really good way to get consistent times too. You are posting some great times too!! You seem like natural out there. I remember at the 2004 event you passed some cars deep into turn 1 after only a few laps. :laugh

How does the car feel? Most of the major work already done to it?

Hope to do a few more events with you guys. :)

The car feels really good, most of the work is done...I need to get a rear spoiler (can't make up my mine as to what I want to put on), and with any car I would like a few more hp's...right now it's putting down about 253-258 @ the rear wheels. I need to talk with BC about some additional goodies. After that I just need to find enough time from work to get my license...as I would like to start club racing in CMod.

Keep me posted if you are going to sign up to run a somewhere!

This should be without the music, however there is a good bit of wind noise.
http://www.crossroadracing.com/beaverun/nihilationnsxinsideRAW.mp4

There are two other videos in the directory too, they were recorded from the timing booth tower. I think the RAW videos don't have any music to them.... http://www.crossroadracing.com/beaverun/

The outside videos were taken during the first time attack session. I lifted to let the FOX Mustang pass me coming off of turn 10 which is why it proceeded to put car lengths on me coming down the front straight, so "Yes, Ross, I did lift." After correcting my line out of turn 10 I gained almost 5mph down the front straight, managing to hit over 130mph before braking at the 100M mark(not shown in this video).

Yea, Hector still has the Mustang- it's twin turbo, pretty nasty. Silicon, now going by the alias Pyrite, sold his car and now has a yellow'ish gold colored Dinan3 E46.

Watch the time stamp. I cross the start at .07" and cross the line again at 1'16", which if my math skills are correct, totals a lap time of 1'09".

Sounds like fun. I'm planning on going to the Summit Point event in early August.

If anyone who went feels like giving their opinion, here's a thread from a few weeks ago when I was looking for first hand experiences: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=528361&highlight=attack

Any cars go off during this event?

Man, that NSX is beautiful. I don't think I will ever get tired of looking at that car.:)
