View Full Version : Will a 235/45 Tire fit on an 8.5 inch wide rim ? User name 05-12-2006, 06:52 PM I'm looking to get new wheels but don't need to get new tires. Will a 235/45/17s i currently have on my 7.5 inch wide DS1s fit on a 17 x 8.5 rim ? black_box 05-12-2006, 11:39 PM depends on the tire, but probably. check the tire manufacturers website, they usually have a range of suggested wheel sizes for each tire. ozbmw 05-12-2006, 11:51 PM Yes it will fit on but the 45 profile makes it a bit taller than the standard 235/40 x 17 that is original fitment on 95 with 8.5" rears. Your car actually sits 0.5" higher with that tyre than stock, you will have a 3.8% speedo error and at an indicated 60mph you will be travelling 62.3 mph. Your acceleration suffers a little bit off the mark as well. I doubt that you will have any rubbing issues as you are not going wider. Your 8.5" rim should have a +41 offset. chr328is 05-12-2006, 11:53 PM In my fronts (staggered) I have 18x8 wheels, with 225/40 tires. Perefectly straight sidewall. In the rear, I have 18x9 in the rear, with 245/35 tires. Those stretch to fit. So my guess is 8.5" wheels, with 235 tires should fit perfectly???? just a theory formed from my setup.
