hi everyone i own a 97 528i.. i recently took off the hubcap of the rims..and now im trying to put them back on, the problem is that they wont snap back on.

is there a way to put them back on so they are tight enough that when i drive they dont fall off?

i've been trying to twist and turn the caps but its not holding on to the rims.. any help would be appreciated... thanks.

I actually like the knocked off look.

My '95 came with a wrench for them. Try your owner's manual in the tire changing section.

The piece that sits on top of the spare tire "rod" is uded to get them off and on. That's for the e34 though, not sure about the e39. Worth a try though.

Those look like the same OE wheels that I have. In which case a tap with a rubber hammer will re-install the caps. I don't often have the OE wheels on the car, but when I do I never bother with the caps. That seems to provoke comments like "What happened to your center caps". To which I always just say "They're off...".

They are screw on. You need to place them into the "hub" of the wheel, and turn it clockwise to lock them in. You will have to use some muscle, but you can do it easily by hand if you have a pair between your legs.
