Where should I start diagnosing? The bentley tells me to look at the cold start valve but I have an '89 325is and it doesnt have a cold start valve.

Also both sides of the throttle body have these "connections" that look like they just sit in there. Well they dont sit too well anymore and this may be the problem like too much air getting in causing the cold start issue. Do I need a whole new throttle body or can these be "rebuilt" with some gasket maker or something?

the car has 148k on the clock. new plugs, however the old ones had oil around the threads, not where the diode is just right up to it. Like the last thread an half didnt have any oil on them.

And to top it off it happens about 90% of the time when cold starting. So its hard to isolate. I think it may be time to take it in to a professional and get the answers then take it home and fix it.
