I had a deck in my 96 318 with basic speakers and want to put it in my 92 325 with the two speakers in the door. (im not sure if this makes it the HK one, as it doesnt say Hifi, or HK on the speakers as i have seen on some).
Any way, do i need a new adapter for it since there are more speakers and and a stock amp on this system, or should it work alright?
thanks in advance.

You should use an LOC (Line output convertor) to hook the speaker outs of the aftermarket headunit to the stock amp on the 92.

im quite audio dumb. i was hoping to jusr plug the deck right into the car. how does this LOC you speak of work and how hard is it to do?

Its not difficult. You just wire it to the speaker outs then wire the other end to the amp in. it will probably have RCA connectors on one side, these go toward the amp, you will either need to cut them to splice them into the bmw wiring or add RCA inputs to the BMW wiring.
When I say BMW wiing, I don't mean cut the wirig in the car I mean get the BMW wiring harness adapter and do your splicing then plug the wiring harness adapter into the stock radio connector. You will also need an antenna adapter.

judging from the link you gave me to the adapter they are all the same from 88-up. it doesnt say that there are different ones for different speaker set ups so i guess i can use it. but you are saying i will have to rewire the some of the wires to make up for the amp now?

If you're talking about a factory radio, it's simply plug and play.
Different speakers/amps were used to make up each "system"; the radio remained the same. For instance, there was no such thing as an HK radio, only the speakers and amps differed between the HK and non-HK systems.
With respect to using a '96 radio in a '93, you'll find that it won't have the extra diversity antenna connection, and the CD-changer cable won't work (I-bus vs M-bus), but the rest of the connections are the same.

its 92 not a 93 but i think you point remains the same. since both radios themselves are the same the wiring for the adapters would be the same too. okay im gonna try this 2marrow mourning.
i think i read somewhere that the blue wire that connects to the blue wire with a white stripe is the power wire and first i have to solder those 2 together. never used a solder before. it just pretty much gets really hot and fuses them together right. no skill required?
oh and thanks.
