Which do you guys think. Would it be worth the extra money to you???

I am debating. I am actually planning on purchasing one in 08 b/c I will have been out of school long enough to get some bills paid off and save up some serious down payment.

But, I just dont know if the m5/6 would be worth the extra 20 to 30 grand.

The M6 is definitely not worth the $20k over the M5. And, quite frankly, the M3 will be more fun to drive than the M5, not to mention $30k less expensive.

i think he say that because the M3 will be less weight to throw around the turns, and has a better hp/weight ratio....
i would also save the 30K and wait for some mods and put it 2 that... M3 ftw i think...
i would love to have a M6 csl if and when they make one

I think the deal will the same as the last gen (E39 M5/E46 M3) set of cars. The M5 will still pull up top but the M3 will be a great deal more tossable and have better track times.

I really don't think you need to drive any of those three cars to know the performance pecking order.

Nearly every Euro rag that has tested the M5 and M6 has said that the M6 performs only slightly better than the M5 and isn't worth the $20k premium.

And every generation of M3 has been more fun to drive/nimble than the M5/6 of the time. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support that statement.

The way I see it, M6 is at least one class above, betterly sorted and absolutely cool GT with significant pace (brakes the weak point propably?). M5 after all is somehow only an bit over powered sedan to comp with other fast germans, fast, efficient but not seductive like M6.
M3 is then at least in CSL form the performance purist of the group.
which is the most ultimate driving machine? Answer depends from that what you want from your M.

If you want the best sport sedan for the money I think it's still the m3. The new one will have 75 less hp than the m5 at its maximum setting and weight about 500 lbs less in all likelihood. No question in my mind which one I'd rather drive.

Hilarious. I think you already know that you want the M3, otherwise why post in the M3 forum where all the answers are going to be "Go for the M3!" Try the same post over in the 5 section, you might get some different results.

It all comes down to what you want from a car. They are all fantastic cars in their own right. Do you want the zippy racer, the sophisticated beast, or the penis on wheels? :)
