A FEW issues?? LOL!

I am tempted to buy it and part it out. I need those headlamps and at $1500/pair new (and no used to be found anywhere), I only need to sell the rest of the car for $8500 to break even.

I honestly believe when it comes to the E31's, the old adage of you get what you pay for applies.

Yep, thats why I wanted to be up front with all of the negative points of the car.

It has a few, but it would be perfect that wants to get into an E31 at rock bottom and refurbish when they have time and money.

Also be very careful of the car with the issue ridden Nikasil 4.0L engine. I hope when the engine was replaced it was replaced with the Alusil engine.

I guess a $5k is a better pricing for the car with everything needing to be done.

Are you for real? :confused

Tell you what; do a search on autotrader and ebay for a 5k E31.
The cheapest 8 I could find on ebay was a 91 with a salvaged title.

The average selling price for a 840 is around 14-15k

The issues I listed are minor (yet time consuming) and really would cost less than 2k to address.

Anyway, thanks for your pricing strategy. :rolleyes

Well...Take it with a grain of salt. I already have an 8 and had it for the past 8 years. I know 840's. But if you want to buy it, then you are looking at the Buy it now price of $10K plus another $2K totaling $12K. Fairly average price? I only wanted to caution on the Nikasil issue. Yes my pricing may be off but for $5K more you can get a 850Ci in very good condition and 100K miles less on it.

Plus the repaint to change the color completely removes from the originality.

But I don't want to get into a fight with you. We can always agree to disagree.

Here are a couple of E-Bay 8 series "I" would consider:

I hear what you are saying...but keep in mind; not everyone has the extra 5k to bump up to the low mile 850.

This is perfect for the DIY guy that ONLY has 9 or 10k to start, and wants to invest some time and energy into making this car his own.

Yep, the 840Ci is mine, and its for sale.
I have way too many BMWs right now, and there is no time or money to focus on this car.

I am still in the planning stages for Operation E24 Makeover....so no time for the E31

BTW: the car has been relisted with a $8499.99 reserve/Buy It Now price!
