Hey all,

REASON FOR SELLING: I'm buying property to build a house and the car has to go :( Times have changed and my priority right now is to settle on this property and build a nice home for my future.

It's a MY2000 with 48K miles on it. The car is bone stock. There was only one owner before me; the guy was 66, babied this car and drove it mostly for work on long freeway travels. He sold it because his wife passed and he was moving to Florida. The guy also owned a 750 and an E28 M5 (he was an enthusiast).

I've had this car a little over a year ... TWS Castrol 10W-60 oil changes every 3000 miles on the dot. Oil filter changed every single time oil was changed. Diff fluid changed when I first bought the car (BMW only requires one change at 2000 mile, then lifetime guarantee ... I just wanted to be sure it was done :) ... ease of mind).

I hardly drove the car. I work downtown and this car was pretty much driven on the weekends, garaged and car-covered during the week. The tires are relatively new, probably one of the only things I haven't changed.

MAF's were swapped with new ones about 2K miles ago. Air filters have about 4K miles on them. Cabin filters are new ... probably 500 miles or so. The spark plugs are new ... about 3K miles ago. Fuel filter has been changed. Injector cleaner has been run through twice.

Clutch is in great condition, holds very well.

Overall, an outstanding car. I loved owning this vehicle because I could slug around 5 friends and still have the torque to get up and get going. It handles on the dime ... you would never think of it with a 4-door sedan to handle like this machine does.

I'm sure one I'll regret selling her, but, times have changed and owning property/house is far more important than a car.

PRICE I'M LOOKING TO GET FOR THE CAR IS MID 30'S ........ $35000+ FIRM

I've had two guys offer 33,5 for it ...

Just to see how much she brings.

I still have the two offers on the table for $33,5. If the auction bids aren't matching or better, I'm gonna sell.

I would think you wouldn't get that much at an auction unless it's different from the auctions i've been to in TX.

good luck, you should have traded it for a supra last year and now you wouldn't be selling the supra :) :stickoutt

I want a project car and the Supra is gonna be it ... a 93 or 94 TT 6spd. ... then I'll have to buy a beater car.

you will not get anywhere near that price at the auction. I just ran a report from Manheim, there were 4 2001 (not 2000) M5s sold at the last auction for less than 32Gs (with similar or less miles)

good luck on your sale!

Sounds like an excellent car at a fair price. I could not see your pictures, could you e-mail me some at tzavitsanos@gmail.com ? I'd love to buy your car but I'm currently in an e430 4matic that I would have to sell to make room. Any chance you would be interested in a trade plus cash with my benz?

Levik,

If, I repeat *If* you do have two offers of $33,500 on the car, I would take that in a second. I just bought the second M5 I've ever had in inventory for around $30,650 with fees and that was at a Carmax Auction which brings less than the Manheim Auctions. The car is an 00 Anthracite on Camel with 43,000 and its CPO. I paid all the money for it because I had a customer or so I thought (the customer fell through). I will pray to God, Allah whoever if I can get out of this car without a loss. I say that just because the M5 market is horrific. The other M5 I had was an 01 with 65k Silverstone and it was CPO, I stole it at Manheim last yr for 30,500 which was unreal and I sat on it for nearly 75 days before taking a loss on it. Not that I dont believe you but if all of a sudden after listing your car yesterday you have two offers on it for near your asking price, I woudl take it and thank your lucky stars because M5's are impossible to sell. Why are they impossible, I have no clue, I think theyre awesome and everyone on this board thinks they're god send but unfortunately everyone on this board would love one but they don't have the coin for one. I would estimate that by bringing it to Manheim you will get $30,500 for it at best and that's without factoring in auction fees and transporting. IIRC, your cousin purchased it for you for high 30's but theres the combination of him overpaying at the time and the fact that the M5 market has fallen a lot since then. I guess you can take my advice for what it's worth but I do this for a living and I sell a lot of M cars exclusively.

I'm no longer selling the car.

Unfortunately, the land fell through :(

In a way that's good because I get to keep the car ... but, I could've had a lot of land and started building my future house.

Oh well ... I still have the M5 :evil2

You are probably telling the truth, but it doesn't make it any less shocking to hear how low these cars are selling for used. An 01 m3 with 43000 miles CPO'd would probably sell for 32-33k, and this is a lot more car for the same money. I guess it's the boy racer appeal of the m3, but still! Is there a reliability issue with these cars that increses their depreciation, or is it the fact that most people who want a manual car only want pure sports cars?

naw, an 01 m3 with 43k miles CPO doesnt sell for 33,000.... 01 m3 with 43k miles worth about 30,000 max. this is ofcourse on the east coast, socal and the west coast (washington state and arizona) is a whole different ball game.
