MJTSUB 05-01-2006, 10:59 PM oooh I know......................just tell us what it is :) slomofo 05-01-2006, 11:05 PM those are aero-port flanges. looks clean. if i may make a suggestion without pissing in your cheerios, i would've used a router to make a flush area for the port flanges so they sit flush with the upholstery. that's just me though. very creative either way  PENER 05-02-2006, 12:03 AM those are aero-port flanges. looks clean. if i may make a suggestion without pissing in your cheerios, i would've used a router to make a flush area for the port flanges so they sit flush with the upholstery. that's just me though. very creative either way  thanks. as far as the flush mounting...try pull it off and if you can you will be my personal role model :stickoutt in short, if I wanted to do them flush mounted I would use the ports without such a wide flange. second, the plastic shelf with a carpet is not as easy to work with as say MDF. third, and probably most important, the shelf is not flat to begin with, so a flush mounting would be a disaster. PENER 05-02-2006, 12:06 AM ports for JL w7? no sir. they are for my 12" Alpine Type R 2005 edition eurotunerwerks 05-02-2006, 12:33 AM looks great none the less. i like it. how much better does it SOUND ? onewhippedpuppy 05-02-2006, 08:19 AM Years ago a friend of mine had a similar setup in an Accord coupe, 3 12" JL W-whatever, they were the best at the time and had a chrome magnet the size of my head. Anyway, it was a bandpass box ported through the rear deck, and one night some drunk girl in his backseat dropped her keys down the port. The custom box had a plexiglass front on it, damn it was funny watching her keys dance when the bass hit. PENER 05-02-2006, 08:23 PM more 00bm00 05-02-2006, 10:10 PM got knock knock?? Nice set-up man.. have any pics of box? slomofo 05-02-2006, 10:16 PM thanks. as far as the flush mounting...try pull it off and if you can you will be my personal role model :stickoutt in short, if I wanted to do them flush mounted I would use the ports without such a wide flange. second, the plastic shelf with a carpet is not as easy to work with as say MDF. third, and probably most important, the shelf is not flat to begin with, so a flush mounting would be a disaster. i was under the wrong assumption that you reconstructed the rear deck out of MDF. still either way, looks good. i am procrastinating the install of my sub box still because i don't know if i want to keep my car. that and i still have to build it :D |
