View Full Version : Trunk won't open electrically sometimes...
aiwapro 05-01-2006, 08:13 PM Sometimes when I press the trunk button inside the car, on the key remote, or squeeze the handle on the remote, I just hear a couple of clicks from the trunk, but it doesn't.
However, sometimes, with all three of the above options, I hear a clunk sound from the trunk, and it opens.
In both instances, turning the key in the trunk, 90 degrees to the left, opens it.
I have not turned the key 90 degrees to the right, to disengage the trunk from the central locking system.
Is there a settings somewhere that is wrong? The trunk usually opens electrically atleast twice a day, and I'm forced to open it manually another
2-3 times.
Had a similar problem but it went away all by itself. Totally weird!
Sorry I couldnt help.
REDRAIN16 05-02-2006, 02:31 PM The trunk just unlocks when you say opens right, it doesn't actually go up itself without touching it?
thumper525 05-02-2006, 02:45 PM the locking mechanism is pretty weak on the 528, and may be starting to go (cracked plastic, getting ready to break). It is not a hard job to pull it and inspect.
(and "open" means it unlatches and opens an inch or so)
aiwapro 05-03-2006, 08:30 PM It opens about a 1/4" or less. Is is suppose to go further, or much further?
How do I replace it?

How do I replace it?From my experience, unlocking the trunk does just that, it doesn't "open" the trunk, it just unlocks it. You have to open it yourself (lift it up). From a distance an unlocked trunk doesn't look any different from a locked one. There may be 1/4 inch or less difference.

Brewtech 07-31-2006, 06:30 PM ha. only 7 series cars came with the Trunk Motor, like a cadillac, right?

yes and i want to retro-fit one in mine! it's the hotness when you don't have to slam the trunk... just gently place it down and it locks by itself.
aiwapro 08-02-2006, 12:00 PM How do I replace mine, and make it function correctly? The trunk does not always unlock electronically (handle or remote). It always unlocks when I turn the key to the left in the trunk's keyhole. I have NOT turned the key to the right to disengage the trunk from the central locking system.
