Hey Guys,

I have a 2004 530i which I was told came equipped with all the right cables for bluetooth but it only needs to be enabled at the time I purchased my car. Now that I want to get bluetooth enabled in my car I am being told by the dealership that it is going to cost me close to $1000.00 to get it enabled. Would you guys recommend any other places that I can go and have my car checked out for bluetooth service and have it installed? Is it even possible to get it up an running on the 2004 530i? Also, has anybody tried it with a Blackberry (Model # 7290)?

Any comments or suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Thanks,
-Manak

I read somewhere that it is only a matter of having the TCU reprogrammed. I hope that someone more knowledgeable can answer for the benefit of us all.

4. For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth® functionality can be added to most of these
vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. After this is performed "Retrofit" of "Tel
Bluetooth" needs to be performed. Follow the procedure as described in this Service Information for "Activating
Bluetooth" and "Pairing the Handset". Vehicles prior to 3/04 would need to have the TCU replaced with the 2005
MY TCU at the customer's expense and the vehicle updated to CIP 13.2 or higher. Phone docking cradles may
not be added to these vehicles because of wiring incompatibility.
