My paint is smooth as a baby's, well you get the idea. Do I need to clay to remove any left over wax or is it safe to apply AIO with the wax still on?

just clay it.

it really shouldnt take more than 30 minutes (i can do my car in 15). you dont need to worry about wiping off the quick detail spray either - the AIO polishing process will remove streaks and smears.

the clay will remove any surface contaminants on the paint. it will remove old wax as well, but the old wax would be removed by the AIO anyways.

It doesn't. AIO is a non-abrassive cleaner. If by chance you can get it to remove a swirl or two it's from the pad, not the AIO.

To remove swirls you'll need something like the SSR line from Poorboys.

You can clay it like Palamino suggests but for fun you might want to take the claying test to see how bad the embedded crud is:
stick your hand inside a thin plastic bag and rub it lightly over the surface of the car. Lightly now with the fingertips, and feel for little snags as the bag glides along.
Lots of snags means you should clay. No appreciable snags means you don't need to clay quite yet. Keep the clay on the shelf, you'll need it next time.

I didnt know clay removed wax. I can see it taking a thin layer off but does it completely remove it?
