Im having trouble with the fan and radiator cleanance.

-In the pictures provided you see that I am using the 318 fan with the Dinan extender. I have cut the top of the fan shroud. I also have the radiator pulled back as far as possible where I will bolt in new custom brackets.

-I have not yet re-routed the tiny coolant hose over the top of the radiator, but when I do, I think that I still won't have enough clearance between the fan and the radiator to play it safe

-The second picture shows how much room (almost 2 inches) I have between the S/C pulley and the attached fan with the extender. Why did Dinan use such a long extender on the fan?

-From pictures I have seen, others have not had to pull the radiator back and at the most they have only had to trim the shroud.

I don't really know what to do. Is a fan delete possible?

I cut the shroud clean through to the radiator and used zip ties to hold the edges of the shroud in place. I also cut at least 1/4 inch from the radiator lip that abutted the now cut out shroud section.

I am on the road but on my way home. I can shoot some pic of my set up if you wish so you can see how mine is installed. For the record I don't have anything done to my shroud or my overflow water line. I do have the rad tiled back some as most do and run a 318 fan with no issues. I replace my water pump recently, failed plastic impellor, with a metal one as well as a metal T-stat housing and T-stat. The install was close to stock with the only issue being getting the extended water pump nut off which required my torch heating the nut red hot.

If you want pics, tell me what you want and give me agood email address and I can shoot some your way.

Ah I see, thats exactly what I thought I was going to have to do. I just don't understand why others haven't had to do this.

Thanks!

fun2drive, any pics would help me out man! jgriffith2@earthlink.net . Thanks!

ERT altered the radiator mounting tabs to make it fit.

I will take a pioc for you.

I would like to see the special radiator mounts as well. It looks like 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch is available, depending on how you alter them.

Thanks for the pics fun2drive. I just don't understand how you have clearance with the 318 fan by just pulling the radiator back....after looking at more I kinda looks like the fan extender ERT slupplied is shorter than Dinan's. hmmmm

I don't know what the Dinan one looks like but mine is about 1 1/4 inch long and does not ride up close to the radiator. I live in Florida and have no heating issues so it works. If I can shoot you any other pics just let me know...
