well it looks clean....how many hours you take to wire it up and cut pieces out to make it fit and operate correctly?

ive had it for a while - fiberglassed/bondo'd it in. I just recently covered it all with alcantara and then i managed to get the bmw idrive front end.

What's all involved in putting together a system like that? Earlier this week I took a detour to avoid some cnstruction delays and got lost pretty good in the e34. I was really wanting to add some sort of nav after that.

are you utilizing any obd or ibus stuff urinemachine?- lol sorry I have to laugh as I type your user name, lol, anyway I got mine to change tracks on winamp via steering wheel with a ibus adapter, but I don't have a nav mouse or any obd setup- yet. Anyway- looks very good, my install of monitor was not as brave as yours, mines just clipped to dash for now. I posted a pic or two previously in a e39 head unit thread.

Dont feel bad laughing - that's the idea.

My car is OBDI, '92 so there is no default sensor interface on the car. However, because I am running a standalone ECU, I have full readout of RPM, Boost, vacuum, AFR, coolant temp, intake temp, injector pulse, etc etc etc etc. I have an E46 Sport steering wheel custom fit in the car, but the E46 slip ring doesn't fit in the E34, so I can't pass the iBus wires thru to control the PC yet.

I don't think anyone can beat your mods.

I'm not really planning on getting an obd interface until my check engine light comes on again:) Anyway just having all of the options of media are enough to keep anyone happy. Now if only I had a need for a boost guage in the 528i...Have fun- and eyes on the road! Mark

I'm curious what you did with your heater controls, and which front end you're using?

Also-
what all comprises the ibus system to retrofit it?

Thanks,
Addis

It's Samuel L Jackson, and he's screaming. There are snakes on the basketball court.

Urine, nice work I am custom installer of audio/video and looks pretty good. I don't know if you knew this but all BMW navigations and iDrive systems are manufactured by Alpine. The only recommendation I would do for the surrounding of the display would be some black ABS plastic or fiberglass to better match the dashboard "flow" and make it looks stock. The current suede fabric you use doesn't blend in to well. Just my professional opinion, but overall nice install.

very nice, except the alcantara fabric...

But different strokes for different folks.
what did you do with the sliders and buttons for the climate control?

SC David

I know the buttons were put next to the fog light switch, but I forget what he did with the sliders. I think he ditched them altogether??

Looks way better in person. Photos always make alcantara look odd.

If you like it that's all that really counts, that's what modding is all about right? But you wouldn't post if you didn't want opinions and I just think that automakers don't use fabric on dashes for a reason. Design wise it just doesn't work. But who knows, maybe you'll start something!

I dont mind opinions, never said I did. I had a plastic surround - looked cheesy. This flows because I have alcantara trim throughout the car. Its not the only place I have it. Im leaving it - it got me in a very popular magazine ;)

You can do the $5 walmart atlas mod for much cheaper. :stickoutt

attack eagle

$5 atlas mod only works if you have a navigator to look at the map and look for those obstructed and out of the way street signs.
