Looks good! Can you notice any increase in power?

I'm still waiting for them to finish their damn MC intake... it was supposed to be done months ago

Noticeable difference in performance, Feels like the car pulls much harder all the way to the red. A little quieter than my previous intake, but much more performance. BMP did their homework on this intake. Nice chunky aluminum shroud that fits like a glove.

Snapper,

Got mine in the mail today and installed it this evening. WOW!!! It really brought the car to life! And that sound, it's sooooo sweet!

ummm, is it just me or does the intake draw air from BEHIND the engine????

isn't there exhaust plumbing that heats things up???

No, it's not you! Looks like it would draw air in from the rear which is considerably warmer. BMP claims with the heat sheild a performance gain of 12.9hp and 12.1tq (crank). These numbers are based on BMP's dyno test, but of course, individual results may vary.:laugh

I just ordered the BMP CAI this morning for my Z3, and it appears that the layout is quite different than the Mini (thank goodness!) as the cone will face the front. If I get 10rwhp and 9rwtq out of the mod I'd be satisfied.

The heat shield on the Mini's look larger than for the Z3. I think BMP also claims an additional 1.5 (+/-) psi of boost with this mod.....

Racing filter looks good Snapper!

This should help explain where the cool air comes in.

I've been reading on other sites and people are claiming that they can notice a difference after install. I've also read that BMW underated the engine and that it's actually a little more peppier than advertised. They also go on to say that with a chip, intake, and exhaust you can reach nearly 200hp. What do you all think about that?

I think getting close to 200hp with these mods is very possible.

Received my CAI from BMP. Haven't had a chance to install, but thought I'd post to say that the intake looks identical to the Mini's. The only difference of course is where it's installed on the vehicles.

The photo clears up some confusion Snapper!:mdrbig

Just with the CAI the Mini-S should be @ 175bhp.

Exhaust typically doesn't add much in way of hp, so say 5 +/-

Not sure about chips for the Mini, but all the mods combined.......yeah, I think close to 200 at the crank would be possible.

I know this car wasn't made to be a rocket so I'm mainly looking for a little more pep. Plus, the mods make it sound better, and adds a little to the appearance.
