Some history:

I've owned this car for the last 6 years. It has been my commuter car driving to school for the last 5 years (Freehold to Newark), so almost all of the miles are highway miles. In August of 2005, the car was turbocharged by ICS Performance in CT. After deciding I was looking for something different than the turbo offered, I had the turbo kit removed from the car by ICS Performance in January 06 and had the engine brought back to stock. I left the thicker headgasket in there along with the ARP Bolts, so the engine has lower compression than factory (~9:1). This is perfect if you want to throw a high boost supercharger/turbo charger on the car. The car is probably down 20-30hp from what a stock M3 makes and on my last tank of gas I averaged 21.7 M.P.G.

The exterior of the car does have some blemishes. There is a dent on the hood of the car from when I brushed a deer running across the street. I've shown it to some body shop people and they think a Paintless Dent Removal service can take care of it. There are some paint chips on the front bumper/grill). On the passenger side of the car, there is a pencil tip size paint chip on the rear fender by the gas cap. The rear bumper also has some paint missing from when some punk backed into my car at school and left. Almost all of the paint work that needs to be done can probably be done using touch up paint. The interior of the car is in decent condition. The drivers side seat has signs of wear, but is not ripped or torn whatsover. The passenger side seat is in good to excellent condition. The back seats were barely ever used. The steering wheel leather is showing signs of wear, but the shift knob is fairly new looking since I replaced it 2 years ago.

Known Problems:

The ABS and ASC (traction control) lights are on. They've been on for the last 3 years and are a random issue. I've brought the car to 3 different places to get it fixed and I've got 3 different answers as to what the problem is. I just gave up and have lived with the lights. The car brakes perfectly fine, you just don't have ABS and traction control also does not work.

Engine runs rough for the first 30 seconds upon cold start up. This is a common problem for all M3s, but mine is slightly worse due to the fact that the car has a low compression headgasket in there(runs richer than normal). Problem goes away after about 30-45 seconds.

Brakes- Probably will need new pads in the next 5-10k miles. If you want, I can get you new pads/rotors at a heavy discount.

Missing Passenger side Fog light - someone stole it at the mall. Hope to have it replaced by the time the car sells.

BMW Roundel Emblem- old looking, also hope to have it replaced by the time the car sells.

Other than that, the car drives perfectly fine. No checks engine lights or anything. Car is ready for daily driving or to have a turbo/supercharger thrown on it.

Reason for sale: Getting a new car

Asking price: 12,000 obo.

Some random pics I have, but I will have newer updated ones sometime this week:

Thanks for the kind words. As for my replacement, I'm deciding between a 06 M3 with competition package, a 00 M coupe, a 2006 Corvette, a used 911, or an E39 M5. We shall see!

Thanks Steve. Suprising dealers were offering me trade in's of $9200 for the car, so I guess its still somewhat desirable.

Thats ridiculous, if I had known you were going to sell the car for so cheap, I might have just bought it with the TT kit on it. :D

Joe go for the e39 M5 you wont be disappointed. It power, handling and ride are impressive for a four door car. If you decide on the e39 M5 make sure you look to hear of any rumbling vanos noise at idle, other than that go for it.

The E39 M5 has been a favorite car of mine since it came out. I'm just reluctant to buy a used car, especially considering that M5s are known to have some common problems (vanos, weak clutches, bad MAF sensors)..
