View Full Version : 93 325 vs. 70ish cuda
takem2church 04-23-2006, 08:55 PM well today i was driving over to my gfs house and i notice this fully restored lime green baracuda in front of me. now this caer was gorrrgeaus. i know i have a 1/1000 chance of beating him in a race so i dont even bother. we drive around for a while until i realize we are both going the exact same way. we pull up at a light together and i rev my engine. the guy gives me a thumbs up and revs his. we wait for green. the second it turns green i take off, while all i hear beside me is "squuuuuuuuuueal". now im not to sure if it was the guys car or not but it had wayy to much power and he had no clue how to launch. i kinda laughj at the fact that i beat him and tell him at the next stop light to get some better tires. i get to my gfs house and tell her the story and she tells me im a big fag. but still fun :buttrock:buttrock
Sloth 04-23-2006, 09:03 PM i bet you that guy felt like the big fag after that little performance

You must have a LOT of work to that motor. I remember the 1982 Mustang 5.0 motor made a whopping 112 HP. Back in 82 it was rare for any car, even Porsche or Ferrari to have over 200 HP.

I believe the GT made 157hp. I thought the 5.0 was the GT? :dunno
trieuth 04-24-2006, 07:13 AM i know the guy with that car, it only looks nice, but its still got a shitty motor in it.

It was not uncommon for Ford and GM to play down the HP figures for cars like the Mustang and the Camaro, perhaps by 100 or more HP.
Kar98sniper 04-24-2006, 12:26 PM I know a guy who knew a guy who had a neighbor whos best friend had a mustang.
Actually you were able to get mustangs back then with 5.0 in several differant packages. GT, Shelby or what was known as the boss.

now back to bmw.

M Roady 04-24-2006, 03:33 PM Nice kill!
It's fun beating up on the old loud cars. They rarely have much go, just a lot of noise. Kind of like ricers, except they drive giant chunks of steel with straight pipes or glasspacks instead of plastic, aluminum, and steel with fart cans. :stickoutt

i'd hardly call a Hemi Cuda, Chevelle SS, Camaro SS, or GTO a vintage equivalent of the modern ricer- all noise, no go.... The average vintage piece of muscle that I cruise with up here would most likely waste the average bimmer or M-car I cruise with up here.
Nice kill to the OP.
Kevin2772 04-24-2006, 04:42 PM I totally agree. Not to mention these cars are quick for their times. Now pull up next to a hemi cuda (if you can find one or an owner who is willing to race a car that goes for $450,000 or more at auctions) and see how you do. I used to never like muscle cars but for some reason through college i started to just love them...
SebsBlackBimmer 04-24-2006, 04:42 PM Nice kill

Just going by what I've seen. Most old muscle isn't fast. 4 million cubic feet of displacement, open pipes, absolutely zero emissions control...most aren't fast. Of course there are exceptions. There are high production number fast stock ricer type cars too.
Now would I rather own a big block late 60's Camaro SS or an STi? Uh, durrrrrrr!!!!
