UDM Motorsport 04-23-2006, 10:02 PM Hmm...i think if your car has EWS, then you have to get it ordered from the Dealer. Otherwise...i think anywhere can do it. I have yet to get my E30 blank key cut... nope, not just anywhere... gotta have a "AAA" locksmith or whatever cut it... they're sitll 'laser cut' or whatever... i have a flipkey for my keyless and it's still uncut cuz i haven't found a place (haven't looked TOO hard but still) Irish03 04-24-2006, 12:23 AM Most locksmiths can cut it assuming they make laser cut keys. Check the phone book. However, if your car has the EWS (meaning anything after December 1994 production) the dealer is your only option. Also, I've had issues with key cutters refusing to cut keys that were not purchased in their shop. I ordered a housekey blank that was the SAME make as the keys commonly sold in hardware stores for use with their machines. It took me six tries before anyone agreed to cut it, and then they didn't guarantee that the key would work. (It worked). They said it was $32.50 each key. Definetly looking for alternative... most dealers will use their key stock... you'll need a locksmith to cut one off your own blank speed racerette 04-26-2006, 10:52 PM Try contacting "Bee's Key's" on Inwood Rd. by Lovers Lane. They cut a Porsche key blank for me and it works fine. BruceAaLee 04-27-2006, 12:26 PM Thanks, I called up Bees Keys and they looked up the e36 key in the book and said it should not be a problem, but did not guarantee the cut. They said it would cost between $5-$10.00 so this is definetly worth looking at. Since I'm out in arlington, I wont have a chance to check them out for a few days or so. If anyone else needs a key cut, check them out... Bees Keys - (214) 351-5954 - 7711 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75209 |
