Just wondering if it is ok to us a PC and use some force on a 95 cosmos black paint job. A friend of mine bufed it about a year ago, and said there was no clear on the car and he did not want to take the paint off.
I have a lot of etched water spots, and fine scratches in the paint, and would like to try to remove them. I just dont want to damage the paint if it does not have clear coat.

Non clearcoated cars are fine to polish at the same intervals as clearcoated cars. Have no worries. Go ahead and detail the car as per detailing 101.

I think there is a minor clearcoat (factory), but not as strong as '96 and ^

My 94 black 325is (in sig) had a clearcoat. I thought yellow and red were the only colors they didnt clearcoat pre 96. :dunno
Anyway youll find out fast because if you get paint transfer its not clearcoated.
Compound/polish as normal. Non-clearcoated cars tend to have slightly softer paint if yours really is so you will see the swirls come out faster. :)

Only the Dakar I and the Mugello Red didnt come with clearcoats in 1995. Every other color had clear, and as much clear as in 96-99.

I am about to detail a single stage paint... I have SSR 2.5, SSR 1, Klasse AIO, and Klasse SG... I am wondering if Klasse AIO is enough to clean the paint and will the SG be good to finish it? Or do I need to polish it with SSR 1 / 2.5??? I've read that the AIO is too fine for a single stage paint, but I am under the impression that it will do the job... Can anyone help/guide me with this? any input/suggestion is much appreaciate, thanks!!!

It depends on how bad the swirl marks/marring is on the car. AIO is not an abrassive polish, it doesnt really take out swirls whether clear coat or single stage paint. I would use the SSR if I were you if the car has lots of swirl marks. 2.5 > 1 > SG

thanks adept, the swirl marks aren't even visible, the paint has more of a dullness on the surface that can be peeled by nail... I'm thinking I should use the AIO before the SG and after the SSR1...
