I had someone request me for pics of my headunit installed. Here they are. Sorry for taking so long.

I have a really crappy camera. The lighting is actually a perfect amber. If you were to sit in my car, you would think the amber lighting on the 9855 is a perfect amber, matching the car.

Sorry about the image quality guys.

Glide touch takes some getting used to. Overall, it's the best hu I've ever owned.

Don't know why the computer display looks pink. It's probably due to the lighting.

I've had mine in about a year now....not really a fan, mainly because of it's poor ipod interface.

Ok, whats up with the blurry pictures!

So many people post blurry pictures to the board and its almost a waste of time. Dont you preview them before you post!?:nono

Ok, I'm done with my rant...

BTW - it looks good even blurry ;)

Well, I have a really crappy point and shoot camera (Yes I'll blame it on the camera :stickoutt). That and it was a weird angle to shoot, I was sitting and camera was up to face in height, no tripod and not enough lighting. If I had taken the pics with my Rebel XT, it'd be a completely different story. Too bad she's getting repaired. Teh GF did something to it :(.

Suspension: Like MisserX said it's KW Variant II.

As for the iPod interface, I have absolutely no complaints about it. Well, I suppose I am sort of a newb with it but within the 2 months I've had the KCA-420i I've been extremely happy with it.

Seriously though, the Alpine 9855 has like 1,000 color options for fine tuning. You can play with it in the setting option.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was considering the Alpine BECAUSE of the IPOD interface. Any updates on this?

I agree. the HU is phenomenal. full 3 way active crossovers, time correction, variable colors, biolite display, I could go on and on...

the amber matches perfectly, the camera pics always make it seem like it doesn't.

glide bar just takes time to get used to. actually most of the complains are from the ppl that never owned the unit, just played with it in CC or Best Buy (dirty!). most ppl don't even understand that the glide bar really consists off two bars, not only one. finger must be slide over the two at the same time for it to detect the change.

9855 is a 05 model. You can get them on ebay for 350 plus shipping or so new. They have held their value really really well. The new 9857 is already down to 280 or so on ebay. (9857 DOES NOT turn amber).

To get OT really quickly, IMO every deck for over 300 msrp should change button colors. What the hell are we paying for? This is 2006.
sorry.

I agree, we should be getting alot more for our money when the $300 barrier is broken. I just wish I had another one in my e30.
