Well after having my stereo over 6 moths they head unit just quit working.

I tried to turn the unit on and nothing, hard reset and nothing. Next day I start my car on and the stereo works but no saound. Later on I jump in the car and the stereo is dead. Now I just took it to a shop and they tell me that is gone.... I have to take it out and send it to Alpine.... With out stereo for maybe 2 months I bet.

Any expiriences on this guys??

I would start shopping for a new one and RMA the one you have. When you get it back, sell the new one.

That sucks I've never had any problems with my Alpine decks. I have actually had the one in my bimmer for 7 years!! LOL Sorry can't help you as i've never had any problems with Alpine before, sorry about your luck.

get a cheapo till you get it back! heck i had problems with a new Clarion! switched to Alpine. now and again it does weird sh!t. i just remove the face and slide it back on.

I talked to Alpine the don't want to validate the warranty because etronics is not an authorized dealer (on line) the only authorized on line dealer is Crutchfield but you guys know it's $$$.

Anyways I'm gonna have to take it apart and see whats wrong. Maybe the internal amp is toasted.

So youre saying Crutchfield is more $$$ but now you dont have a warranty on your deck and have to go through a major hassle. What deck was it BTW? I know weve had LOTS of problems with 9851's but mine has worked great for the last year *knocks on wood*

I got it at etronics.com I really good company. The head unit is an Alpine 9855....

Have you checked the fuse? Another possibility would be the relay (under the hood) that controls the circuit your head unit is hooked up to. Also, Kenwood > Nakamichi > Alpine > Sony; 5V > 4v > 2.2V > 2V.

I checked the power on the harness and it's getting it. The fuse is fine....
