I have used it for years on various vehicles with good results, and I like the "easy on/easy off" factor. Should I trust Nu finish and other petroleum based waxes on my BMW?

Nu Finish may have its advocates but there are very few within the BMW and professional detailing community.
As for pertroleum based waxes, many BMW owners and professionals appreciate the depth, wet look, and shine of a rich carnauba topper over the top of a good sealant.
The sealant offers shine and exceptional durability while the carnauba provides extra shine, depth and wetness.
Check out autopia.org as a site with a wealth of detaining info.

Yes I happen to know Nu Finish is quite frowned upon by the Autopia community. Best steer clear.
