View Full Version : 540i vs. 80's Pontiac Firebird
fm.illuminatus 04-18-2006, 02:58 AM Short race... wouldn't even be posting this but no one else on the planet will even give my car a second look (except two mustangs that chickened out half way through the races... see other post), so... I raced a friend of mine in his 80's something pontiac firebird. Not the original engine, he had a 302 ci V8 in it.. making 260-300 hp (?) or something. We raced from a stoplight. He got a nice looking launch (burned rubber, it looked cool)... I was too busy looking at the stunned look on the face of an old man in a truck next to me to launch right away, so he got an instant 1 1/2 cl on me before I got into the race. However, by about 45 I had reeled him in and started to pull. I shut it down around 65 with about a cl. Short and fun. Nice sounding car though... I think my friend's going to be dropping a built 391 ci (650 hp estimate) in it in a couple weeks (he's working on the motor right now)... so, I'll try to race him again then. :D
