The finish on my factpry 10 spokes is looking bad. I was wondering what steps are need to be them painted or powdercoated to make them look new again.
Is sand blasting needed ?
What type of paints are needed ?
Is there sanding involved ?
Anything other info or step by step process would be much appreciated

For the best surface preparation, you should get the wheels media blasted. Sandblasting is the generic term for actually using sand, and wheels can easily get damaged if you use sand. Use paint prep solution and clean the wheels after you get them back from the media blaster.
You are ready to prime the wheels now. You can paint your wheels in your garage as long as you have a good respirator that is approved for VOCs. You can buy these at Lowes or Home Depot for like $40.
The key to a good looking wheel finish is to carefully prepare the painting area--vacuum the floors, walls, and put down some plastic on the floor. Wet the concrete floor near where you're spraying. This way, you minimize the amount of dust that gets kicked up by walking or the action of spraying.
If you just want to do a quick and dirty job, just scuff the finish with either 400 grit wet/dry automotive sandpaper or a paint scuff pad, wash the wheels, use paint prep solution on it to remove all traces of wax/silicone, then start painting. Use Bondo spot putty and filler for wheel rash, after carefully sanding the defect / wheel rash below the surface of the repair.
I used Griots Garage wheel paint, which is just relabeled Wurth Wheel Paint. The paint is a two stage system, and is an acrylic high temperature paint. The paint is a little "spitty" so it takes a little practice to get the hang of it. Check it out at www.griotsgarage.com.

What about acid dipping at a radiator shop? I'ts safe for aluminum obviously and would leave absolutely no harsh scoring. I'd like to do it with my OEM 18" Mpars and then just highly polish the aluminum and clear coat them. No paint on the insides of the spokes like factory.
