Just had to let someone know that I just replaced my 18" M5 wheels with some staggard 17" AR1s. Went back to the stock tire sizes. Huge difference in how the car rides and handles. The M5 wheels were slightly bent (thanks to the previous owner) and had 225s on the front and 255s on the back. The fronts could barely fit on the wheel. Further, I was getting a reciprocating vibration on the highway that I could feel through my seat. That's all gone! The car handles bumps with aplumb and turn-in is definately quicker. The steering is much more stable also. It's really a night and day difference. This ride just keeps getting better.........

No pics yet. But I did weight my new and old wheels.
New Wheel & Tire combo:
Front 42.2 lbs
Rear 45.2 lbs

Old wheel & tire combo:
Front 49 lbs
Rear 51 lbs

For tires, I went with the General Tire UPH. Wanted all season. So far the tire are great, but I only a few hundred miles on them. They don't stick as well as the Kuhmos though.

Saved a lot of unsprung weight which I know helps with the ride. I'll take some pics and post.

The General tire is very good in the wet but I would not trust them in the snow. They were a good riding tire.
