View Full Version : Group... Lets get organized.

Alright guys. Due to the recent growth of the OKC chapter and other recent happenings a few of us have decided we should take the first steps in forming an organization instead of just a random group. This will allow for control of funds, a mediation path, as well as more organization on meeting spots and event. ETC.

It was brought up at the weekly meet today and every one in attendance gave the green light.

What was decided was to first nominate a governing body consisting of three positions:

Pres.
VP.
Treausure

There are no limits on nominations. To nominate someone for a position. PM me their name and I will then contact them to see if they except the nomination. Nominations will be closed a week from tomarrow. So 4/14/06.

After nominations have closed I will start a poll from the excepted nominations. I will be un-biased ( I do work in TV HAHAHA) and I will also not except any nominations for myself.

By doing this we will be able to move forward as a club and grow not only as friends but as an organization as well. We will also be able to apply for Non-Profit status and establish a bank account.

Please Ask questions and post here. If you disagree with this idea. Please send me a PM directly. DO NOT POST "Good idea" or "Bad Idea" posts in this thread.

Thanks guys and lets continue to make history and have fun with our cars.

MofO Stamped!

I'm happy that we are growing as a group. This is going to be a large happy organization as well as a family of friends.

P.S. I want to be a recruiter. hahaha

I talked to Jed about asking bimmerforum to allow you guys your very own "oklahoma" subsection. Definately needed in the near future with the traffic you guys are seeing. :)

i think it is a great idea especially if we open a bank account. i think it is necessary so that there is some accountability with the bank account. patrick is right, with the group growing there should be some figure heads. not with too much power though... just a few people to give a knod to events and such.

what about the Tulsa group? have Tulsa officers? or a Tulsa Chapter?

i feel that O-City needs to road trip up to Tulsa and do some recruiting. Even if a few of us go, it's better than none. We can just make a general flier directing them to the forum and to their weekly meet.

Maybe if Keith gets those wheels we could pick those up for him also. Sounds like a plan things get crazy in April and May but you know I am game for some Tusla time.

i agree with jed that this is needed. there are things i feel that we need to start doing. i know im new but im giving you guys and this club everything. i think more business cards would be great. more stickers are needed for those of us who do not have them. and should club dues be mandatory? say maybe like 5 or 10 dollars so we can keep new members updated with stickers and business cards? the bank account is going to be a great way to keep track of all these things. i cant wait till we get things started!! :)

Getting non-profit status takes quite a bit of work. My skating club just put in all the paperwork this week for our non-profit status. I let some of the older and wiser skaters in the group take care of the paperwork, but from what i did see, it all looked somewhat complicated. They needed to write up specific by-laws and a bunch of other crap i haven't heard of before. They also needed to give some reasons as to why we should become a non profit organization. Our skating club does adopt-a-park at lake hefner, we've done clinics at bethany childrens home, raised money for different charities, etc.Which brings me to my first question...What do we plan on doing as a non profit organization? Meeting on Thursdays to hang out and have fun and putting stickers on our car doesn't seem like a valid reason to me, and may not sound like it to someone else reviewing our paperwork. I think what they want to see if what we will do for the community. Don't get me wrong, im all for making this club bigger and better, as long as I'm not the one that has to do all the work :)

Iv'e had some experiance with non -profit . but Ash has had a lot working for OBI.

The first oreder of busines will be developing a charter and bylaws anyway.

We want to be non-profit so we can do the charity things and also become better community stewards.

Definately needed in the near future with the traffic you guys are seeing. :) I checked with the b/f.c Moderators at one time; sub-forums go to the two most active areas, TX and UT in the Southwest. I don't know if they keep monitoring that and make changes or once it's established, then it stays that way.

I'm all for some form of organization. I run into people all the time that I recruit for the MOFOs but I dont have anything with contact information etc to give them. We need fliers or business cards at the least.

good deal. I might be able to provide copies of my skate club's documents as an example if you guys need it.
As long as the group knows that by achieving the non profit status we will actually have to do things for the community then I'm all for it. If people don't want to get out and get active then i just say we spend the $50 on stickers for new members, business cards, or put it towards renting out the sheriffs training center for some MOFO spirited driving action.

You made me think about this...the non-profit status could be super good for us. I think doing things for the community will be a huge benefit. Nothing like publicity to get your name out:)

Plus, I think it would be fun to do positive things for the community as a group!!

Also, I don't think bylaws are such a bad idea, either. It can't hurt to be proactive.

you are so right ashleigh, doing this heartwalk thing for the American Heart Association has made me realize how much i enjoy doing stuff like this. its fun and you benefit others in the end. i heard some of the managers on the friday morning call here even talking about the special olympics and i thought how neat it would have been to be a part of that. all of our donation stuff and charitable organization work i do it here. we even raffle off a basket for United Way every year and i take care of that too. i love it!!

Our meet in Jenks, Oklahoma last year was a start of something. Larry (M3Jhawk) really got the info to us and then we combined with the CCA group and OKC Mini's to raise money thru a show and shine. It was for a very nice guy name Joe Pleasant. To make a long story short we have done a little more than just meet on Thursdays. This is as all I could find as far as link as a example: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402259&highlight=Jenks

I'd love to have some business cards to stick under wipers or something like that. I spotted a silver Dinan M3 coming out of a neighborhood about a mile from my house on the way to work the other day. Guess they hide all over the nooks and crannies of Broken Arrow.

sounds good..i do think we need updated cards. as far as i know..curt isnt even here anymore, so that is one false contact on the cards. plus the site i always have to scratch it out and re-write it. new cards is a +1 from me

I'm going to see what I can do about getting up there next week or the following week to try and do some recruiting to help out. I'll make up some basic fliers to hand out. I need you to pm me the information as far as address, time, etc for your weekly meets. When T-Town starts to grow, it will be up to you to nominate and coordinate with O-City to make things happen.

see this is great. it would be cool if we could get another benefit car show like the one Larry held last august. maybe we can throw one OKC. i talked to a few VW and WetDub guys and they were down with an all european show. we could get OKMini and maybe the PCA in on it too. we would need some organization first though. i am for it and i love community service.

How was NWExpwy last night?

there were 6 cars...3 bimmers and 3 SRT-4s. I went to take a ride in one of the neons and jed called me saying the cops kicked them out and i should go get my car so that i don't get a ticket. When i returned everyone was gone but more ricers were pulling in. I'm assuming they were probably kicked out moments later.

All in all it was a waste of gas.

rob when you left the lot got maybe 1/3 full. then a cop came in and was like 'who wants a $163 warning' or something like that. then he posted up behind your car like he was going to write it a ticket.

massage tables can run anywhere from $300-UP. like most things that you buy for your car, it depends on the brand and exactly what you are looking for. just google; massage therapy tables...there you can find a lot of various tables. i prefer STONGLITE, that's the one i have and it's very durable. are you wanting to be a massage therapist or something? good luck!
