Does anyone know when the E90 M3 is going to be produced?

We are just as knowledgeable as you are on when the new M is coming out. I am holding off on buying an e46 just because I want to wait to see what comes out of this.

12-14 months from april '06. Now that the MZ4 and MZCoupe are making their debut, the M3 is no longer the flagship sportscar, so they will be discontinued as soon as they start to run out of full assembly parts. It'll take them 12 or so months to retool and then start production again.

I have an order placed for the second car to arrive at the local dealership. The sales guy called to let me know everything was still "on track." He did not know when it would be here, but he said there would be some information soon. I'm pumped because I got the contract to buy the car with the options I want at retail cost -- no markup.

Are you serious...no mark-up damn that's nice. Maybe I should go get mine ordered too from a local dealer...you think they will treat me the same or be A-Holes and still mark it up?

Yes, no mark-up. It's a sales contract in writing, signed by the dealer. I did this 9 months ago, and even then only one dealer out of 6 I tried to contact would do this. The sales rep called me last week to reaffirm we are still on. It's hard to say what your dealer will do, but generally they are not working in the best interest of the customer.

I can order the car with whatever options I please.

I figure if I am not in a position to buy the car when it is finally released, then there may be somebody else who will want the car. Perhaps at a small markup by me?

I'm going to CRY when they discontinue the E46 M3. :(

Not that I won't like the new E90 M3, it's just...the E46 M3 is like my favorite car ever.

For pete's sake. I wish they would quit jacking up the price with stuff like seat belt assists and wipers that turn on when it's raining. Or the electronic oil dipstick.

What's next? A module that dispenses BMW tissues automatically when the car detects a sneeze?

Are you sure they didn't mean that the E90 M3 will be an 08 model but out in late 07?

How did you approach the dealer? Did you ask him if there was a waiting list? Did you have to put any money down?

Just spoke to the dealer near me. 2k down. Doesn't have a problem about refunding it if I change my mind before the build date. I would be 4th on the list.

No idea of pricing. Said it would not be released until a couple of months before the build date. Expected build date was April or May next year.

Great, another $500 electrical part to break when the drunk friend you picked up to give a ride home decides he needs out of the car pronto to throw up. That seatbelt assist better be made outta rubber. :shifty
