Toby Grahovec to pilot BMW 330i in US Touring Car Championship for Team Mobility

Dallas, TX (April 4, 2006) Toby Grahovec and Eric Maas have announced their intentions to compete in the US Touring Car Championship (USTCC) in a BMW 330i. Grahovec and Maas, as driver and car owner, respectively, first combined their efforts in late 2005, resulting in a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) National Championship. Grahovec and Maas have decided to combine their efforts and name the program Team Mobility.

Grahovec has a long and successful history in sports car racing. The Chicago native is a two-time winner of the Fred Wacker Award for being the top racing driver in the Chicago region. Past winners of the Fred Wacker Award, named for SCCA founder and former Formula One driver Fred Wacker, include Bobby Rahal and Carl Haas. Grahovec won his first SCCA National Championship in 2005 driving a BMW Z4. The 26 year old plans to defend his SCCA National Championship in 2006 and compete in the Short Track Trucks Challenge Series along with his duties in the USTCC. Grahovec was a three-time All American in ice hockey and recently had his number retired by Robert Morris College.

Maas, 41, has been in the car business all his life. Maas is currently the President of Classic BMW in Richardson, TX. Classic BMW is in the construction phase of a new, state of the art campus in Plano, TX. The new facility is set to open in the fall of 2006 and will showcase Classic BMW as one of the premiere BMW dealers in the United States. Maas is well known for his charitable efforts, including the Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc., Susan G. Komen Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Genesis Women’s Shelter, and the American Heart Association.

Team Mobility will combine the talents of Grahovec and Maas with a desire to not only win races, but to help local communities. The team will donate $100 for each lap they lead in 2006 to local guide dog associations. Team Mobility will operate out of the Classic BMW facility and will be led by veteran sports car crew chief Tom Bull. Bull, 49, has been involved in motorsports since the mid 70’s with teams in drag racing and sports car racing. The Team Mobility BMW 330i will be maintained under the watchful eye of BMW Master Technician Brad Hamilton. Hamilton is fairly new to racing, but his eye for detail and mechanical ability make him an invaluable asset to the team.

Team Mobility is able to go racing thanks to their loyal sponsors, BMW North America, Classic BMW, Red Line Oil, English Color and Supply, Bell Helmets, Razor Image, and IMAGE Sports Marketing and Management.

MPACT Motorsports Becomes the First Team Racing the New E90 BMW Chassis in a Pro Series in the US

Murray, UT (March 14, 2006) - MPACT Motorsports is pleased to announce that it became the first team to run the 2006 BMW E90 325i in a pro series in the US. The team ran their Moton/Ground Control car in the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) on March 12, 2006 at the A1 Grand Prix of Nations event at Laguna Seca Raceway. The car finished seventh in its first outing.

2005 USTCC Rookie Dale Sievwright was behind the wheel of the car built by Mpact and TC design. In his rookie season with a new team, Dale scored 3 top 5 finishes in 4 races with a best result of 2nd at the Inaugural San Jose Grand Prix street race. Dale will be gunning for the USTCC Driver’s Championship in 2006.

Afterwards Sievwright said, “It was really hard to find the balance of the car in a car that had seen little testing. After getting used to being in the front, it is very frustrating to be in the middle of pack. But the future is bright for the car. With the help of Ground Control and Moton Shocks, we feel that the BMW E90 chassis could be one of the best handling cars in the series.”

Its been around a while actually. BMW's used to do very well, and Subaru as well. BMW's are coming back thanks to Mpact, should be interesting to see how the E90 develops.
