View Full Version : Engine installfest 4/8/06
zeit00 04-04-2006, 04:49 PM Well the S52 is here and I have all the parts(I hope)... So if anyone wants to come by and help.. or drink beer.. or just sit around and watch, you are more than welcome.
Hopefully by saturday the transmission will be pulled and we just have to worry about the engine removal/ install.
Any takers?
bcart1991 04-04-2006, 04:55 PM Wherebouts?

I should be able to make it down for a little while.
Chris Huff 04-04-2006, 04:55 PM I don't know what my schedule is for Sat. yet, but if I am free, I'd like to come down. I am thinking of pulling my motor and would love to see/help you put yours in for the experience.

Robstah 04-04-2006, 10:23 PM Hmmm. My family has a beach house rented for the weekend down at St. George Island. I am debating on which would be better.
adeelpowers 04-04-2006, 10:28 PM I'll stay away...I wouldnt want any bad luck to be around you. Consider that my support!
Good luck!
BMRSEB 04-04-2006, 10:36 PM Hmmmm.... Need to install my rear sway on the E30.. Maybe I'll swing by and watch ;) , and someone can install.. er.. I mean assist me in installing my sway..:devillook :stickoutt
Rear sway bar on an e30 is childs play. You can do it without taking both rear wheels off. Seriously.

Well, spent the better part of this evening trying to get the sway back in place, with no luck, so I left it out for now. It's getting it around/above the diff that was cause for a lot of expletives and a sore neck/back..:stickoutt
Anyway, if you want to stop by this week after 6pm, come on down :D . I'll probably just try and make it to Karl's...
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I should've just tried to replace the links w/o removing the sway??
BTW, Karl, I have no idea where your old shop was. Directions would be sweet.

Are you really trying to sell that car? I remember you mentioned it in Bill's track car thread (one of them), but I wasn't sure if you were serious.
I wanna get rid of this jeep before it explodes on me. :help

Dunno, getting attached..:stickoutt Plus, fixing things here and there makes it harder to sell for it's "worth" to me, if you know what I mean..;)
Oh, and Karl, sorry for the threadjack, but it's the GA section, de rigeur..:D
Yeah, I hear ya. My jeep just developed a funky new noise and I'm a little worried that it might be something expensive, and my e30 is months away from running, M50 or not. A motorcycle would be ideal, but my parents would eat my brains. :az
BTW, Karl, I'll give you a call sunday to make sure you're at the shop. :buttrock

punknamedjimmy 04-08-2006, 11:28 AM I don't think i'm gonna make it out. i just found out my dog has cancer and they took him into surgery today. also one of his eyes which he's had problems with since we've had him stopped producing tears so he's probably going to go blind in that eye.
but apparently my mom is crying all over the place so i said i'd stop home for a bit. i hope it goes well though

Well the engine is in... tranny is mounted up.. But we are not getting fuel. Swapped the relay.. and checked the fuse. But nothing. The car does crank though.
bcart1991 04-10-2006, 09:51 AM Check those position sensors...
;)

You mean the crank and cam position sensors? Would that cause no fuel at all?
techno550 04-10-2006, 10:25 AM crank pos sensor will cause no fuel and no spark. (how would it know when to spray or when to light it?)
is everything plugged back in? :stickoutt
Does the pump come on but the injectors don't fire?
Matt
zeit00 04-10-2006, 11:34 AM Does the pump come on but the injectors don't fire?

The pump is not pumping fuel... at any time.
keeptheuroalive 04-10-2006, 11:48 AM The pump is not pumping fuel... at any time.
Hmm. I was gonna say check your chip, but the pump would still work. Are you still getting spark?

We had another 413 ECU to try and the same thing happened.
keeptheuroalive 04-10-2006, 12:00 PM We had another 413 ECU to try and the same thing happened.
Hmm. Not really sure whats going wrong. If I had to pick something I would say cam and crank sensors. Try putting in starter fluid and see if the engine kicks over a bit. That normally makes me feel a lot better about when nothing else works.

Robstah 04-11-2006, 07:57 PM So... Any updates there Karl? I will be in town on Thursday if you need anything. I also have the EGR valve if you need that too.

Car starts. I drove it around the complex.. But is running rough. I will need that valve.. And I am going to replace the dipstick o-ring as well..

What was the problem? Did you get all the intake pieces connected?

..and a turbo.....
zeit00 04-12-2006, 09:23 AM What was the problem? Did you get all the intake pieces connected?
I think it was the crank sensor. But went ahead and replaced them all. I am using the old MAF as a connector for the 3.5 right now. Not the best.. But it works, and has no leaks.
So I am going to get a new dipstick o-ring. Replace that broken charcol canistor hose, and install the vapor valve thingy..
BTW: THe car pulls like crazy... A little scary. :devillook
zeit00 04-12-2006, 09:23 AM ..and a turbo.....
In due time.. In due time..
zeit00 04-13-2006, 10:08 PM Well car is finished... and is running really well. The cars pull is amazing and has power everywhere.. I would like to think Rob(robster) and Rob(loser) for all of their help.. And thanks to Bcart for showing up and having a couple beers with us :buttrock. Robster, post some of your pictures and I will try and get some up tomorrow. :redspot
