Well... Maldives Blue, we were told on the factory tour, got its name from a BMW diver who was diving in the Maldives islands, looked up, and saw the blue of the water with the sun streaming through it, and thought it would make a good color for a car.

Maybe there was a particularly vivid sunrise one morning, or some other yellow thing that caught someone's eye. :ponder
