My temp gauge is broke and I just read about how to use the OBC tests to get the temperature of the coolant. Problem is, I don't know what the normal / average temp should be. Thanks.

If you find yourself in a part store, ask someone there. The thermostats used in cars have a switch that is triggered by a certain temperature. So most auto part store guys know what normal operating temperature should be.

... or you could try your owner's manual.

... or you could try posting your question on a foru-- oh, wait, nevermind.

... or you could try fixing your temp gauge, that would be sure to tell you.

Thanks. Actually I cross posted this on BB, got an answer there (104-107). Alas, no manual and fixing the gauge entails replacing the entire cluster.. I've already started the process with Leonora so I don't want to purchase one until I find out whether or not BMW will replace it gratis. And as for the parts store person, well, lets just say I don't put alot of faith in them.
