View Full Version : yellow ion fogs for my 540 - where to get them and what wattage?
A4540i 04-03-2006, 08:24 PM I think I'm going to get a set of yellow ion H7 bulbs for my 540i. Any suggestions on where I should get them or if it really makes any difference where? I saw these which looked good http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-33169.cfm
Price is right. I also saw some at SPP http://supremepowerparts.com/contact/ but the price is twice as much.
Also - am I safe if I get 70 or 80 watt or should I stick with 55?
Last - I was thinking of possibly painting the stock fog bulbs lightly with testors metalic blue. This is what I did with my clear side marker bulbs and looks great.

uNcLeWiGGLy 04-03-2006, 08:51 PM these yellow bulbs are shit.. they basically look halogen unless you hit the right angle..
had mine for 3 days before mine blew and never recieved a refund from the ebay member who sold me the cheap yellow bulbs//
conclusion? if anythingy yellow xenons are the way to go..
it wont look like the lexus foglight yellow unless you buy the caps insde the housing from a lexus and somehow put it in ur fog over the bulb..
i hear yellow cellophane on the glass of the foglights work well if they dont get hot enough to melt that iis ;]
Feuerräder 04-03-2006, 08:53 PM you could try yellow laminx too...lots of e36s do that
A4540i 04-03-2006, 08:58 PM SPP has a 1 year warranty which looks like it might be a good start. Maybe yours blew because they were way over the 55W stock rating? I think I'll go ahead and get the SPP 50W and at least they'll stand by their product. Ya it may not still be yellow enough, but I could try a light yellow metallic spray on the lenses or what you mentioned. Just looking for that something unique - kinda like the fron end of your car at night = :cool man
A4540i 04-03-2006, 08:59 PM where can I get the yellow laminx? That'll work.

i put lamin-x and Hella Yellowstar H1 Bulbs on my E34 fogs.
Bulb was yellow but not that much. so i decided to get some lamin-x too.
works great.
heres a pic. mines the one on the left compared to my friend's E90.
Feuerräder 04-03-2006, 09:07 PM good question...i wanna say bav auto, but searching their site gave me nothing...i've seen it in the catalog though...
did find this though...http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-102322.cfm
A4540i 04-03-2006, 09:12 PM and... thats the place where I was also looking at the bulbs but they say 70W so I'm not too comfortable with that. I'll look for a pair of the hella yellowstar H7's and do the Luminx -- thanks!
Feuerräder 04-03-2006, 09:14 PM no problem, just be sure to post pics...
A4540i 04-03-2006, 09:58 PM thats the other thing I need to get and might be my next purchase - a Canon Rebel XT without a lense (a co-worker is going to let me borrow his stock lense because he's got a few L (Pro series) lenses :)
dy540i 04-03-2006, 10:02 PM Here's another option: http://lamin-x.com/
I recently purchased a set of their yellow M5 fog light covers and am very happy with the outcome.

Try suvlights.com. Thave have some "gold" colored bulbs that should do the trick. And definately stick to only 55w

YES. I put 80 watt bulbs in and it burned my lamin-x and made brown spots. Use stock watts.
NY550i 04-04-2006, 11:20 AM Lamin X or if you have extra money to spend then go with 3000K HID in the fogs.
I agree on sticking only with 55W bulbs... i have 100W and i change my bulbs every 1-2 months.
