The good: Great Recaro seats, well designed steering wheel, good placement of radio/hvac controls, finally VW used the BMW style gas pedal, very peppy and minimal turbo lag 2.0T with a nice linear powerband, greenhouse effect with huge front windshield with good visibility all around, good looking gauges with on board computer, snappy shifter, stable ride, extra goodies like xenon, available sat. radio, available DSG, available old school cloth seat trim with the stripes etc.

The bad: FWD, steering is too light for my tastes but I know through VW software it can be adjusted since it's electrical steering, numb brakes, obviously poor weight balance, not a very light car, seats felt a bit too tilted back even when lowered completely

All in all, neat car for the $ but I could never own a FWD car.

Haha, yes I tested a good deal of the time with the windows open.

did you drive a 6spd or a DSG?

I drove a DSG.

Here's my opinion.

The Good : its really, really, really easy. DSG. It was amazing, combined with the 'launch control', it was really fun. The mkV handles better than the mkIV, and the seats are much better as stated. The steering wheel is very comfortable as well. One of my favorite things is that it comes with Xenons, standard.

The Cons: FWD. It's also heavier than the mkIV, but with only 20 more hp. :( Maybe the price too. For what I wanted, DSG, w/pkg 1 (sunroof, sirius, and something else im forgetting) it came out to about 25k out the door.

Now im settled on the mkIV, but I will get a mkV in the future.

I agree with much of that. I drove the 6-spd but I have driven the 2.0T and 3.2 A3's with DSG so I know how fun it is :)
