Ok so I driving home with a friend of mine after a Semi-Pro hockey game out in Laval, I was comin onto the 440 West, and I see this bimmer a few CL's up. My friend tells me to pull up, I get beside him, about 20 year old guy with a nice chick next to him. My friend asks him if he wants to go, I was not expecting my friend to ask, and when the guy said yes I got goose bumps, he said to slow down to 60KM or like 40Miles, anyways I am in 2nd and I assume so is he. Off the start I had maybe a 10inch lead, but he quickly closed that, and passed me, by the end of it all, at bout 120Miles, he had 1 1/2 - 2 Cl's on me, he waved me over into the next exit to a Tim Hortons. A really nice guy, and a REALLY nice girl, it was a 2002 M3, CAI, Exhaust, and a Rocket Power Superchip. When I heard all this I did not feel bad losing to him, at first I thought maybe it was my driving, because usualy M3's and my SS are closer races. But he gave me his cell number incase I ever wanna run again or just hangout at some meets, like I said this guy is very chill. Anyways I lost, and had a smile on my face the whole time!

Sucks to hear you lost, but at least the guy was pretty cool about it. I think this is the first time I've heard of your SS losing;)

I posted something before when a vette had me for lunch at a track, but he runs low 11's so that did not count! This is my first loss on the street, I wanted to race a Viper, would of lost there, but he was like 70 years old! But I can admit defeat NP, hell it was fun losing, just cant make a habit of it ;)

Which CAI did he have? I was not aware of any except for the Hamann sport kit evo (which also includes a chip and exhaust) which REALLY produced power. According to Jim Conforti, a CAI cannot be made that produces power on this car.

No clue man, I dont know much bout bimmer parts. I can not tell who makes it just by looking at it. But i know it was there! Maybe he has that kit and lied bout the Rocket SuperChip, either way his car could really move!

hey Silver SS, nice car you have there.

I hear the new M3's are pretty quick, haven't run into any yet on the street or the track. The few I ran into on the street I beat but they were older and most likely bone stock.

got any pics of your car? mods?

Thats the only pic I have, and it was taken by a friend at a local race track. Seeing how I dont have a Digital Camera I cant take any. I guess I should just buy my self one! I dont have any mods on the car as of yet, but this spring I want to have her running mid 12's.

I'm hoping for somewhere around 12.6-12.8 next time i get out to the track. Should have my 12 bolt by then, then I can run my slicks.

SilverSS

Yeah, i will be shooting for 12.4-12.6 in spring! Maybe I can even get it to like 12.0-12.2, that would be sweet!

why 12.0? Then that gives you that you could possibly turn into 11's, its all good though. Yeah, e46 ///m's are no slouch, they are even hell on a supra, good race though. Nice the guy wasnt an ass either. And the girl makes it all worth while :-D

lol shit, once I hit low 12's I will wanna get into the 11's, damnit this car will be a money pit :biglaughb

I only raced a few new M3's, 1-1-1 so I know they are the best race for me!

Once I get my car all done, I will call the guy and run him again, and make sure he brings his girl!

I'm in the process of building an iron block for my car. So far I am gathering the parts. Heres what I have so far:

6.0 LS based iron block, currently in machine shop being bored to 4.060
Cola forged crank
Oliver Forged rods
JE forged pistons with rings

I plan on having this all ready to go and assembled so whern I get my heads and cam I can swap them on to the iron block and swap the motor into the car. Witht he setup I am going for so far will yield 382 CI with stock stroke and the 4.060 bore. This means I can rev to about 7500 - 8000 RPM's and should expect about 480-550 RWHP all motor and with the forged internals and iron block it should take a 150 shot of N20 no problem. I expect to have everything done and the 12 bolt in the car by this next summer.

Shit man, I never thought of that! How much $$$ is that gonna run you? I am intrested in that now!

well my friend parts out cars and he is hooking me up with the block out of an escalade for 150$ + another 200$ for the machine work.

Crank was about 2200$
Rods were about 900$
pistons and rings for about 800$

getting the TR 224 cam for about 700 with pushrods and springs and retainers.

heads are 1800 from andy's auto. www.andysautoperformance.com

he is one of the best F-bod mechanics and has the best prices. People have seen about 440 RWHP off of his stage 2 heads and cam packages on stock bottom end.

so about 7000$ for a fully built forged motor. Also there is gonna be a ton of nickel and dime crap but the motor should be pretty strong.

Keep something in mind, racing from a roll, ain't drag racing, too many factors, gearing being the biggest one. Go race him from a dead stop and see what happens...
