You will never feel 8hp in the seat of your pants. I would not do it. If you going for other mods along with it, then you may see some benefit. RussC Kdog2112 04-03-2006, 12:53 PM I am doing other mods with it - my buddy and I are fabricatin a custom turbo setup for my car Nero530i 04-03-2006, 01:34 PM anyone here have the bored out throttle body from dinan (says gives 8hp at 5500rpm..) was considering doin it - figure why not....but before I ordered wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this? I have the CAI; throttle body; exhaust and engine/tranny software. Seat of pants - - you get a bit better pull in higher end rpms. The engine/tranny software has other benefits: no limiter; redline higher and shifts better imo. If you really want boost skip it and get an s/c. I've got one on order from Dinan and will be installing it as well as the cold air intake, exhaust and engine software. With the 20% rebate Dinan was offering in March, it's almost a freebie for me. I'll let you know once I have it installed. I think Nero530's comments are accurate, and if you're fabbing a custom turbo for the car, you can probably get away without it. 1/2Man1/2Amazng 04-03-2006, 06:22 PM If you are doing a custom turbo setup, I'm sure you will have the TB out by itself. So you might as well save some money and maybe bore it a little more than Dinan does if you do it yourself. Shouldn't be that hard at all. franka 04-04-2006, 10:52 AM If you have access to a machine shop it shouldn't be difficult. You'll have to make a new precision thottle plate to match the bore and maybe a new shaft to hold the plate too if you can't modify the factory shaft. This is not something you can do with Sear's tools in your garage. |
