Emma vs. '97 Trans Am
My brother and his buddies are always into racing on the weekends, so he set up a race between my 95 M3 (see mods in sig) and a friend's 97 Trans Am. The TA only had an aftermarket exhaust.

Additionally, it should be noted that the style of racing that they use is a 20-roll start on a count.

So, we roll out to wherever it is that we race ( :devillook ) and line up. This usually happens in a pack of about six cars -- the two racers up front, a filmer right behind (with a car beside him) and two others in the back watching for cops. This is in addition to the advance scout that gets sent ahead to look for the po-po.

Anyways, we line it up and are ready to roll. We're rolling along at 20 and I'm in first gear... my brother counts it down and we're off. It was a good start, with neither person jumping, so we go.

In first, I jump out about 1/2 car length on him before I shift to second. He shifts right at the same time and immediately starts to inch up on me. He's just inching on me a little bit and actually gets up about 1/2 car in front of me by the top of second gear. We shift almost at the same time again.

Early on in third, he's still just inching on me, out to about 1 car length. Then, he begins to pull away faster towards the top of third. I shift before he does and this allows him to pull some more. He just keeps walking on me all the way thru fourth. At this point, we're up to about 110-115. I shift into fifth and he's about 3 cars ahead of me. Damn! So now the gap isn't widening, but it's not getting closer. I keep it on the floor and we're up to 120. I look down and see this and tell my brother that we're about to have to stop, cuz I'm going to hit the governor. This upsets me, because at 125, I start pulling on him ever so slightly. It's at about 2.5 cars when I race right by 130!!! My car is chipped.... SWEET (I didn't know this when I bought it)!! Now, I'm pulling on him pretty hard. Up to 135... 140... 145... I've got the gap down to 1.5 - 2 cars and I'm still pulling on him.

However, right as we hit 145, he has to pull over into my lane to pass a car (the only one on the road) and he hits the brakes. Dang... I wanted to see if I could reel him in. Oh, well.

It was a good race and it really got my adrenaline flowing. That's definitely the fastest that I've ever been in a car. And even at 145, I was still pulling pretty hard, accelerating good and even 800-900 RPM from redline.

Hmmm... I wonder what she'll do? :)

Good run with Emma. 145 mph is fast enough. :) What kind of work does the T/A have on it?

As far as I know, the only thing that the T/A has is an exhaust. I'll be talking to him this weekend, so I will find out details then.

the TA is a beast, I am kind of surprised you did not take him, or atleast have it abit closer, find out if all he has is exhaust and let me know.

yea.. that race shoulda been a little closer.. get a euro hfm kit.. some dyno proven exhaust like AA or SS.. and some UDP's and you should be able to stay neck and neck if not take him sooner..

He had an exhaust and no cats when I raced him. Now, he added an air foil (hard to explain, but basically lets more air get into the engine from the intake) and a cold air intake. It's a 95, by the way.

We'll all be running the 1/4-mile soon, so I will be posting times for these cars that I've been detailing in my racing stories.

I already know that my brother's GS-R is a 14.7. I don't know what mine is, what the Trans Am is, or what the Z28 is, but I'll know in about a month. I'll update then.
