TechnoM3Girl 04-01-2006, 08:11 PM ok so im a noob and i locked my trunk with my key a few days ago and i couldnt get it unlocked today :(
does anyone know how?? please help me cuz my car is dirty and the stuff to wash it is there!!! :eyecrazy
MarqE36 04-01-2006, 08:17 PM I dont think there is a trick to unlocking other than > unlocking it. but then again I could be wrong since you have a later year model. try it again. otherwise read the manual.. Im about to wash mine now. Good Luck!
GoNz0 04-01-2006, 08:19 PM try the other keys if you have them, wiggle them in the lock till it decides to go, my last bmw was like that :(
TechnoM3Girl 04-01-2006, 08:22 PM i have no other key and no manual :(
im screwed :(
GoNz0 04-01-2006, 08:25 PM if it locked it will unlock, mine was as bad, took minutes at times, i sprayed WD40 in and that helped, once you get it unlocked, leave it for the central locking !
you could get a spare cut, it wont be worn down width ways and may pop it 1st time, go back and wiggle the key more, try it both ways.
GoNz0 04-01-2006, 08:26 PM if you have drop down rear seats you can climb in and pull the cover off and unlock it that way.
MarqE36 04-01-2006, 08:26 PM spray some WD40 to lube it up. if that doesnt work.. does your seats split? :) and if none of that works then you may have to take it to :devillook just to crack it open you so can wash your car again.
TechnoM3Girl 04-01-2006, 08:28 PM argh ok yes they do fold down so how would i do that?
GoNz0 04-01-2006, 08:32 PM go try the key for a good 10 mins b4 u climb in and rip the boot lid cover off...
had to force mine to the right as you turned it ?
if you fail at all stops then pull the clips on the cover, get your hand in and feel each side of the lock, you will find the latch in there by chance and the boot will pop. you cant shut it until you replace the lock otherwise you will have to do the same each time, hence me pushing you to wiggle the key every way possible to get the deadlock engaged.
TechnoM3Girl 04-01-2006, 08:35 PM ok wow i give up :(
ColoRoadster 04-01-2006, 08:44 PM On locks you want to use white lithium grease. Wd-40 attracts dust and will make it worse down the road
dblmikeusa1 04-01-2006, 11:34 PM Have you tried to manually unlock it by inserting the key into the drivers side door and turning twice? I think you have the push button, right? When all else fails, try turning and pushing in all directions...
WeiBCoupeE36 04-02-2006, 03:06 AM i forgot to fix your problem tonight before we left...lol. if you get that shift knob before thursday..ill help you with it when i pick it up. cool?
A ///Monster 04-02-2006, 06:04 AM I had this problem once. it drove me nuts in a parknig lot for liek 5 mins. then I realized that my trunk was already unlocked. hehe... I felt really dumb.
GoNz0 04-02-2006, 06:06 AM i think its the lack of use the rear lock has.. and the fact all the shit on the road seems to cling to the back of the car 1st...
white lithium grease isnt going to help as its grease, it wont find its way into stuck parts, just keep a good lock in working order...
WD40 to free it then slap some grease in the hole to stop it getting shit up again ?
A ///Monster 04-02-2006, 06:22 AM I've been told to use graphite on door locks in the house. I dunno about on the car.
GoNz0 04-02-2006, 06:49 AM yeh you can use it on cars, but its preventative, same as grease, so no use for a stuck barrel :(
JedzE36/5 04-02-2006, 09:07 PM did anything get caught on the lock when you closed it. that happened to me couple of times and the only it came undone was by force.
ICTBMW 04-02-2006, 09:17 PM i forgot to fix your problem tonight before we left...lol. if you get that shift knob before thursday..ill help you with it when i pick it up. cool?
