topgun 04-01-2006, 09:49 PM I saw it in my 'paper' issue. They list a website and I assumed the mag. was available on line but have never checked. I don't have access to a scanner right now ... sorry.

BARRY E36 M325 04-02-2006, 11:50 PM That is so cool. I have a friend whos dad is an appraiser and he checked out my car and said that it is worth to a true enthusiast about 5 grand. Thats soo cool. I hope it jumps even more in value. I think its worth that because it has basically no rust. I wonder what any of the Hartges and Alpinas are approximately worth. Maybe I'll save up and still buy that 323i Hartge Baur I was talking about like 9 months ago. I think the guy still has it.
The article was nice, and the car was SUPER clean, but really, a future classic? I mean, i dunno...
Al Canuck 04-03-2006, 12:46 AM I've been saying that the E21 will be a future collectable for a number of years now. Problem is, just because it's collectable, doesn't mean it's worth anything. Look at those of us in the 02 world. I've owned those cars for 12 years, and they are just now starting to appreciate a little bit. If I were a betting man, and I wanted to buy an E21 that "might" be worth something in the future, I would get my hands on a 323i. Oh wait, I already have one! If I were REALLY a betting man, and I wanted a currently affordable BMW in my stable as a future classic, I would get an E24. Oh wait, I already have one of those, too!
Look on the bright side guys, if E21 values stay low, we'll be able to play with these things, and drive the hell out of them for years to come. As soon as cars become valuable, you can't do that anymore.

My car has ZERO rust, I can't even get $3k for it now.

You sure as hell could if you are appealing to the right buyer who is looking for a propper E21. Trust me. I have had people around here offer me 4 grand for my E36 and it has a wasted engine and tranny. Don't ask why. I just smile and nod my head at them. I know the car ain't worth that in my opinion. But one mans trash is another mans treasure. True? :dunno
marinersfan 04-29-2006, 04:48 PM Just got my copy in the mail today of the same May 2006 issue. I'll have to see if I can get access to a flatbed scanner.....maybe the library has one....
All in all not a bad albeit short write up:
"Actually, the fine folks at Bayerische Motoren Werke got the 320i just about right out of the box. There were complaints about the handling in the earliest cars. so in 1978 BMW tweaked the suspension slightly. Changes included 1 23mm front anti-roll bar in place of a 22mm unit, 10-percent stiffer springs and a removal of the anti-roll bar."
Mark633CSi 04-29-2006, 08:42 PM I agree wholeheartedly! I bought my E21 last spring as an in between car. I just got rid of my 633CSi and needed something while I saved for an 850Ci. Since then I have fallen in love with my 320 and plan on tastfuly modifying it instead of buying an E31. I always get comments on my car where ever I go. In fact, I was getting gas yesterday and had 3 separate people comment on it. A lot of people may disagree with me when I say that I think the Fiat X1/9 is another underappreciated car too! I had a 79' with a huge electrical problem, and the transmission siezed up on me at 65 mph, but when that car ran it was a blast to drive!
djminkin 04-30-2006, 12:16 PM Supply and demand. Problem with the E21 is that there was over a million produced, so there is still many more in supply compared to the demand. Still its extremely hard to find a perfect stock E21 car. I too, think the numbers will become smaller and smaller in the next 10 years, because they arent really sought after yet by collecters. There still first time driver cars, and junkyard cars.
We're starting to see the Alpina cars fetch some big numbers, because with only 533 B6 cars produced and less than 60 left worldwide, there isnt too many around. Thats why I try and go for the cars that are limited production, those are the cars that are first to go up in value. I just spent a nice chunk of change on a 2002 turbo. With less than 1600 ever made, and about 500 left in existence, that car only has one way to go in value.

That is by far the sexiest thing I have ever seen. You should be on the look out for a black one now. Make a set.
shadyduk1979 05-01-2006, 02:22 PM just one pic?! WTF man
Mark633CSi 05-01-2006, 08:58 PM To use a phrase from the 80's: Totally Radical!
CompOrangeGT 05-02-2006, 06:53 AM I just recently bought a 83 320is for $500, about another $100 in misc fluids & parts, and now it running again. I bought it for a DD, but Im not sure how long thats going to last...I may just start suspension work, and then it will snowball from there...Ill try and get some pictures up, its pretty clean. Small amounts of surface rust but thats about it.

THey only produced the turbo in chamonix white and polaris silver. There was only 1572 cars ever produced. It is kind of weird they only made it in two colors.
djminkin 05-02-2006, 03:06 PM Here it is leaving Belgium on its trip over here...
djminkin 05-02-2006, 03:09 PM another
Very Very pretty. Congrats! Love the script on the front spoiler, even if it isn't "stock" on your particular car... (for those that don't know, it was only technically on the demo car produced by BMW)
blitzed310 05-02-2006, 03:22 PM WOW x infinity
Must be REALLY nice...

I heard it was only on the first few cars produced and then the german police had a fit and made BMW change it. Either way, I think it kind of makes the car. I received the car two weeks ago and the shipping company really mishandled the car. They cracked the front spoiler and knocked a fuel line loose. I was very disappointed with Wallenius after hearing such good things about them and how they handle the cars. Anyway the car is very nice, and I have already gotten a new spoiler and stripe kit for it, plus there going to pay for it all. I have a B6 coming next month so Im defintely going to remove the front spoiler and get it by mail so they dont mess that up too.
blitzed310 05-02-2006, 04:25 PM So whens the party? I hear tickets to Florida are the lowest ever.
Jmabarone 05-02-2006, 04:49 PM Man, I wanna see that car someday...

BaronOfIpanema 05-02-2006, 05:10 PM WHat a beautiful car! Actually I think I had the "Hot Wheels" version some time ago. How much was it to ship over and how crazy was the paperwork?
djminkin 05-02-2006, 05:50 PM Actually very simple. The cost is about 1200, which wasnt bad. The cost of putting it into a container was close to 5000 bucks, so even with the damage they caused, its still worth it to do the roll on roll off service. Here is B6 car #221 that is being resurrected. This car will be finished this month in Europe and will come to Florida in July. 90,000 miles, original motor, exhaust, interior. Just missing some cosmetics. Will have a new decko kit, badges, headliner, carpet set, and it will be a beauty, just like the turbo. These are my long term investments for now.
blitzed310 05-02-2006, 05:56 PM OH

Ha, Im a fan of bimmers, just as much as you guys are. I could be buying some expensive depreciating sports car, but instead I choose to get some nice classics that will only go up in value... Call me crazy..:buttrock
Dickfruster 05-02-2006, 06:08 PM They are worth more here than there. Do you have someone there to find the cars for you or you actually made a trip?
djminkin 05-02-2006, 06:14 PM They are worth more here than there. Do you have someone there to find the cars for you or you actually made a trip?
You are absolutely correct!! They think of them as just old cars. I have someone that is very honorable looking for me over there.
I have a B6 coming next month so Im defintely going to remove the front spoiler and get it by mail so they dont mess that up too.
What do you do? Can i have your life?
Oh and when you get the B6, PICS!!!

I will definitely make a thread of B6 pictures once the car is done. I just want to wait to get everything finished first. Im still waiting on a few parts for the car and I probably wont get it in my possession until late June early July.
Jmabarone 05-02-2006, 09:03 PM I gotta see that one too!
Jake
Mark633CSi 05-03-2006, 01:03 AM That 02 is the coolest car I have ever seen! Outstanding purchase! The B6 is awesome too! Ahh, so this is what envy feels like! :rolleyes LOL! Congrats!
djminkin 05-03-2006, 08:00 AM THanks guys. Jake, your welcome to come down to Ft. Lauderdale anytime. Just wait until July when I have both cars at my house.

fullswing 05-04-2006, 12:19 PM my mechanic has a model of a chromed 2002 turbo... anyone ever see the real thing?
djminkin 05-04-2006, 02:11 PM Ive seen that model before. They only produced the turbo in two colors, silver and white.
HarryPR 05-06-2006, 08:14 AM Beautiful turbo! The Alpina looks great also.
Actually there is a black turbo, from the UK, I believe. I also saw somewhere on the web that there were a couple more built in other colors.
Here's a link to the page on Richard Stern's site with pics of the Schwarz turbo:

http://www.bmw2002.co.uk/turbolineupbavaria2002.jpg
http://www.bmw2002.co.uk/bensturbo07.jpg
djminkin 05-06-2006, 09:34 AM Wow, says that is the only black one ever. Ive seen that picture before. Im sure there is people that have painted them from their original color. I havent heard of any produced from the factory other than white and silver besides this one now. Most of the cars left have been restored anyway, so Im sure there is a few out there with new paint jobs other than white or silver. For me, and I would guess from a collectors standpoint, having a car that is original specs and unrestored is most important, and maximizes its value, but finding any of these cars unrestored and in perfect shape, is getting close to impossible. Having one of only one, has to be extra special.
