Hey Guys. I don't know how many of you live in Wisconsin or if you are familiar with Road America.
But my friend is a member of the Badger Bimmer Club, the WI chapter of the Bimmer Club of America.
Every year the club rents the track, and this year it was the 4-6. My friend invited me to go and these are some of the cars I saw.

A custom trailer from Continental Motorsports (IL) for their 3!!!
Ferraris. They had a F355 belinetta, F40 :), and get this 1 of 40
333SPs. For those of you who may not know the 333SP was Ferrari's latest LeMans car. It has a 4.0L V-12 putting out 600-700 hp. Redline is 10,500. The owners were sooooo cool. I went up to them, and they talked to me for an hour. The gentleman put 39,000 mi. on his F40. Drives it to work regularly. Wife drives her F355 on a regular basis. Then you should have heard the scream of that V-12 in 333SP when he went out on the track - so sweet. Made everything else seem quiet. Did the track in
about 2 min flat while everyone else (inc. the F355) ran it in approx 2:30. He also had the 333SP set up with a passenger seat to give rides but track officials wouldn't allow it.

There was a 328 GTS, 308, and a Testarossa there too, but I never got a chance to meet the owners.

There were 5 NSXs. Three black ones, two reds - all modded out. I took some picks, but again I never got to meet any of the owners.

There was an Integra Type R - '97. The owner was cool. Came up from Illinois.

There was a del Sol, too.

There were 4 or 5 3rd Gen RX-7s (my favs) and all owners were cool. I talked to three of them. There was also 1 2nd gen.

I saw at least 2 Vipers, both GTSs. I think one was heavily modded out but i never got a chance to meet the owner.

A slew of Corvettes including a number of Z06s.

There was a (996) 911 Turbo, 2/3 (993) 911 Turbo, and four or five other older Turbos. There were 3 944s too. AND there was a 962 - It was a kit car - but still form the bulk head forward it was
identical, the rear was shorter as it ran a bike motor.

Finally, there were all sorts of BMWs, natch. M5, M3s (all vintages), 540i's, 2002s, M Coupes. Most were E36 3 series.
This year there were no hatchs, and convertibles weren't allowed.
Also no 7 series (although there is an owner who usually comes to these events)
Thankfully no Bangled cars.

There was one VW, and 2/3 Audi A4. However cooler than that were the
2 S6 Avants.

Everyone was friendly, willing to talk about their rides, and let me
take pics.

If anyone is in the WI area, please PM me - I would like to meet you guys.

:D

ummm dude... are you sure it wasn't the week before... that sounds suspiciously like what went on when I was there 9/28/02

but I was under the impression that the event was put on by the Alfa Romeo Club....

question: did a Ferrari 550 get wrecked on saturday????

the owners of the 333SP were very cool, the brittish guy with the yellow 308 was also cool. the 550 owner was very interested in seeing the footage of the wreck that my brother and I taped.

and that place is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

not to mention the shit-ton (distinclt different from a crap-load) of video we have of the SP.... you can here it every second it is on the track... we were sitting down in turn 12, you can see 10, 11, 12, 13 and half of 14.... totally amazing sounds.

outside the 550 and the 333SP, the black 930 that was "not stock" was easily the coolest thing on the track.

now that I read the rest of your story... it wasn't our weekend, we hardly saw any BMWs...

did the Ferrari guys talk about the 550 nailing the wall the weekend before?

No actually there is a schedule of events - go to roadamerica.com - Anyway a lot of clubs rent Road America. According to the schedule, Porsche Club is there two weekends - Alfa Romeo is there, Cobra club, etc....
I wish I had known you were there - I would have like to meet you.

Sorry - did not read the post completely -
no the Ferrari people didn't talk of the 550 from the weekend before -
However there were some crashes - A off-white 930 lost it in turn 9 (the Carosel) It was so f*cked up they couldn't lower it off the flatbed onto the ground and then get it into the trailer - the exhaust was hanging down, wheels and tires were seperated, you could see the turbo spool (impellor) hanging down. It was seriously f*cked up. The car was like a table with a wobbly leg - the entire car was wobbly.

Then there was E36 that lost it in turn 10 and 11 - lost it in one bank and as it swung around the back half hit the wall...

It was sad.

how the hell do you loose it in 11....

and the 550 had a suspension failure in 12, went head-first into the inside concrete.... very crazy.

I need to get the video from my brother, he is having trouble getting the audio from the camera to the computer.

that trailer was very cool too... there were 3 F40s at the alfa event, 3 360 Modenas, 1 F355, the 550, the 333SP, and 3 308s and a mondial.... sooooo cool. my brother didn't believe that the 333SP was a 333SP so he asked the owner "what the hell is that anyway?" to which the guy responded "a whole shit-load of fun!" I talked to the 550 and 308 owners for about an hour trying to dissect the crash and figure out what happened... VERY wierd.

I was up there to get a porsche, but the car turned out to be junk, so we went to the track instead!

we are planning an club road-trip to milwaukee next year... I will keep you posted. send me your email/contact info, dasmafia@earthlink.net
