Team Numassmontring is kicking off the official season of its runs on the weekend of April 15th so finish your taxes early and get your buts up here!

Ok so maybe you are wondering who we are, where we are and maybe even what we do. Well...

Who? We are bimmer owners and fanatics just like you with cars that range from E46 M3s to E34s, E30s, and E36 M3s.

Where? We are from all over, but the meets all begin at the RPI Fieldhaus in Troy, New York.

What We Do? We drive a mix of fast paced mountain traversing switchback uber twisty roads with slow paced cruising through towns and country sides. We have a course called the Numassmontring do to it going through Nu York, Massachussetts and Vermont and looking a lot like the Nurburgring's Nordschlieffffffffffe. The drive is about 300 miles long and takes upwards of 5 hours to complete.

What do you need? Make sure your car is in good shape. Take all necessary safety precautions. Check your oil, air pressure, tire wear, everything you need to. Radios are definately almost maybe a must... ie if you think you are going to be doing this a lot, get a set and share. We only have so many extra and most communication on the drive is done via the radio. If you have a radar detector please bring it because we want this to be a biggggg drive. Also money for gas and some food (probably will be pizza at a papa ginos).

Directions from Jersey.
287 North all the way to 87 (NY Thruway)
To Route 787 at Exit 23, toll will be $4.35
Then Exit 8 or 9 (I can't remember) for Route 7 EAST.
You will drive down a hill across a bridge into Troy. Continue up the hill (you are now on Hoosick Street). At Burdett Ave take a right. Two lights in (Peoples Ave) take a left. There should be a giant building infront, parking lot is on the right (RPI Fieldhaus). Time is still preliminary but the drive to here should be no more than 3 hours from Morristown.

I'm not a big fan of the black Lamin-X stuff either. I like the contrast that the taillights provide.

actually the trunk only costs $500, is made of carbon fiber and was proved to produce considerable amounts of downforce on the BMW M3 CSL. :D

But do you have the power to back that up?

My spoiler was a $5 cosmetic upgrade.

No way that CSL trunk lid provides any significant down force, considering how small the lip is. It does look cool as hell though. Trunk + good paint + install will run waaaaay more than $500.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been posting much. I have been busy lately. I am not sure if I mentioned it, but I fixed up my father's SHO since he was going to junk it. I wanna go on a drive on the Numassmontring, but I am still worried about my car making a long trip like that. It is already a couple hour drive just to get to Western Mass, let alone NY.

I gotta get working on the website again. I keep procrastinating.

So I found out today that I must be doing something right with my e30. I was profiled again and got pulled over. I was getting on the highway, and got up to speed at a perfect 65mph. I passed by a super trooper sitting at a turnaround. About 3/4 of a mile later he comes flying up the passing lane. Meanwhile up ahead there is another statey that had someone pulled over. I was going to pull into the passing lane to go by like the law states but I thought the cop behind me was going to fly by so I didnt want to pull out in front of him. Instead he pulls behind me and I get off the exit, go through a roundabout and he pulls me over.
Supertrooper: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Me: You thought the car looked nice and wanted to check it out?
Supertrooper: (slight giggle, I took offense) You didnt merge into the passing lane going by the emergency vehicle. Also you didnt signal while going through the roundabout.
He gave me a written warning. That doesnt explain why he decided to pull out from his spot and come flying up behind me. He was just aching for an excuse to pull me over, and in a way he created that situation on the highway just so he could.

anyone done their brakes on an E30... I need to do my pads and rotors and I need someone I can come to and be like OMFG WUT DO I DO, I mean I'm a smart kind and all but im sure there are some tricks to the trade

the other night i went out to find a cool road, and i came upon a road i went on like 4 years ago and thought it was crazy, its not as crazy as teh berlin loop, buts its nutty, so anyways i go all down it, then it ended at a T intersection, i chose left, then another left..

all of a sudden, the road is CRAZY and i am like wiat.. omg.. IM ON THE BERLIN LOOP!Q! Lol i was on it backwards! so crazy..

"bigjoefun" did my rears in abotu 20 min, i watched him and he had lots of good tips, but i totaly forget them all.. you need a really really big vise.. do you want him to do it for you? he charged me liek 20 bucks lol

yeah, all you need is to change pads? that's fairly straightforward/quick to do.

Edit: I saw a guy in a black lowered e30 in Ashfield today, told him 'bout the 'ring drive on the 15th... We need fliers or something :)

Rotors too but that is the easiest part. One set screw holds it in place.

the hairpin is still on what I call "florida mountain" though it could be a different one technically. When I first heard mention of hollywood mountain, I thought it was the hill between petersburgh NY and williamstown MA. I looked it up on maps and that particular road or what not is called "Berlin Pass" I THINK. Could also be Hollywood Mountain...just a thought.

Rt 2 is the Mohawk trail. Mailing address's and all. I've never seen something mailed to "Route 2" it's always "Mohawk trail."

Go buy Mothers Back to Black at whatever discount chain you prefer (Auto Zone, Advance, Wally World). It's made to do the same thing and works pretty damn nice.

i probably wont be able to go on any drives til i can buy my wheels and tires, nonphixion still has to buy new ones in order for me to get his, so i have to wait, and blizzaks+spirited driving+warm weather=bald rear blizzaks, drove home in the rain last night and spun out twice :eyecrazy, once the rear starts coming around it's extremely hard to reel it back in with bald blizzaks lol lucky it was at 3am and no other cars were on the road...

Why is your car overheating? Maybe you need a new fan clutch? Thats what happened with my e34. Cheap fix I found out after driving it for 1 year with it overheating and not knowing why.

Wednesday: Blast from the past (music from different decades for each hour)

Screw them, this is my car, I'll do what I want. And wasn't the consensus of this forum that every E36 should have clears, LTW and drop? Ambers are a no-no in the E36 community ;)

As far as the clears, on the 328 I used to switch back and forth between amber and smoked to keep it fresh. On the M3, the car came with only front clears, and I hate that. Either go clear all around or don't go clear at all and I haven't ordered the OEM clears yet and I don't think I will. Smoked is totally wrong for Avus, in my opinion, and I plan to keep this car stock, except for suspension, wheels and headlights.

They're stock headlights for Europe ;) HELLA with E46 projector shrouds and xenon.

Already have new wheels actually. Some German 3-piece staggered goodness waiting to go on, once snow is finally done.

BTW, Brian, aren't you happy I made you get the skirts from Jesse? They complete the look. You just need some 2-peice German rims MIT lip!
