I just bought a 1978 320i for $500. I need to adjust the sunroof. It was really hard to open and when I removed the panel it seems the two sliding mechanisms are not at the same level. Is there a way to adjust this so they move back and forth evenly?

The problem is in the car, homey.

The answer is simple. Go and take evrything apart,then adjust, clean and lubricate, and put it all together.

Got all that except the adjust part.

Im cursed with the sunroof handle, everytime I buy a new sunroof handle, it breaks in the same spot shortly after. then its really hard to turn it...

I also need to get in there and lubricate everything again.

does anyone have a diagram showing the e21 sunroof parts? I took mine apart and got all new pieces, but forgot how to put it back together :/ Yes I know, stupid thing to do.

BMW320i.com has a HTK online parts list in thier library. It works pretty good and gives you an idea of how this cunning array of gears and cables works.
