Anyone ever heard of or used a Jet Performance Products chip in their 8? I have one in my Ford F-150 but don't want to put one in my 97 840 (approaching 70,000 mi.) without maybe hearing some feedback. They have a website... let me know what you guys think or if you've heard anything. I can't post URL. It's a remove and reprogram, but they ask for desired reprogram specs... I'd hate to have my board messed up.
... Terry no doubt you know you're approaching 840 posts...
jetchip.com/products.asp?pid=14478 just add the ww...

IIRC Jim Conforti tried without success to reprogram the later 8s along with the E38 7s and found a non re-programable odd chip that was soldered in.
Dinan appears to have suceeded to some very small degree. Dealer style flash only?
Ahmed303 should have a better answer to that than I do. I have an early chippable version 840 so I have not pursued the late model chipping very hard.

Terry is correct. The post 96 E31s do not have swappable chips. Dealer Style Flash programming only. The only available options are DINAN and PowerChip.
While Jet maybe good but not an option for post 96 E31s.

The Jet website says it's a remove board and a soldering process is involved as well as reprogram. The say about 30 hp gain. What does PowerChip do in their process and what are the performance gains?

For Powerchip you take out the entire board and send it to them. They Reflash and send back to you. No taking off or resoldering chips.

Powerchip... very expensive... Jet Performance... never heard of anyone running one... guess it's stock for now.
