I felt like my X5 was possessed.
Last night, out of the blue, the alarm started going off.
I went outside, thinking the worst. Nothing. So I reset it and went back in.
Three minutes later, same thing. So I unlock the car and get in. The interior light, which is supposed to fade out never really does. It does this fade down then fade back up thing. Kind of like a disco. So I switch it off. It turns itself back on!

Whoa. Hold on. At this point I think my car is:

a) demonically possessed
b) has major electrical issues
c) I'm on camera for a TV show

I still don't know which it is.

I start the car. I move it and it says "door open" even though all doors are shut. Shut them all again. Same thing.

So, I finally had to leave the car unlocked all night and just wait for the interior light to go out by the battery saving circuit.

Today, all is fine again.

WTF???

It's doing it again tonight!
I'll have to take it in...

Dealer called.
The control unit is toast!
They had to order a new one that won't be here until Monday.

So now I have a 2006 530i (NON-Sport-BUMMER) loaner until then.
It's not a bad driving car other than its interior is dirty from being a loaner.
I just wish the front of this car wasn't so unforgivably ugly...

Most likely FREE since his X5 is a 2005.

Yes. It was fixed and it worked flawlessly.
Then I sold the X5 and got an Z4 M Coupe.
That'll show it! LOL

Most likely FREE since his X5 is a 2005.

I think he knows that since he asked...

Hum, any clue how much that would of cost ya?

as in "...would of cost ya had it not been under warranty"
