Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, so first a friendly hello to everyone there :-D

I'm just in the process of finding a good 316ti or 318ti compact, 3 door, manual. I've got my eye on a late 2002 model.

I am new to BMW (I own a Rover which I'm selling!) and would like to know:

1) How much services cost?
2) How regular do I need to have it serviced?
3) The service lights on the dash, do these go out if I do the servicing myself?

I'm decent at basic servicing such as oil changes, air filter, spark plugs, brake pads, drums and stuff. but nothing much more than that.

I need to know what the car will cost me over the year in servicing so I can make a decision to how much I can spend when I buy one!

Thanks in advance,

Lee.

1) How much services cost? Depends on where and what and how, way cheaper to do it yourself
2) How regular do I need to have it serviced? service intervals are in the manual or online if it doesn't come with one, search is your friend
3) The service lights on the dash, do these go out if I do the servicing myself?
you can reset the service lights with a peake code reader or again, there is a way to do it without one, search is your friend
Good luck on finding your car

Thanks for the reply.

I can't find the manual online anywhere. And don't have a paper one yet as I haven't bought one yet :-(

We never got the E46 TI :( Wish we did, looked like a fun car!

How do I know if the car has a full service history? Is there a service booklet that is stamped on each service?

Thanks,

Lee.
