The stereo in my 2004 325Ci has pixels that drop out when it gets cold...at maybe 10 degrees or lower. The display is full when it warms up inside the car.

Is this just something that happens with cold weather on the display, or should I go get another radio under warranty. I can live, but can't tell by the display if I am on AM or FM. Having boring people give the farm report or hearing music though makes it easy to guess.

Pixel dropout is a common problem on all BMW radios and displays. I'm suprised it's happening on such a current model, guess BMW hasn't gotten the hint yet.. it's only been 10 years. :rolleyes

I'd get it replaced if it's still under warranty. If its that bad already, trust me, it will only get worse. If you had the misfortune of having this problem on an older model (like myself) I'd say break out the soldering gun and the multimeter, that's what I had to do. But if I were you I'd just replace it.

Also, search on here for "dim radio display". I think I remember a while back where BMW CCA was getting a discount to get radios fixed. Like 50/50 labor and parts or something like that. I may not apply in your case if it's a warranty repair.

g/l!

Well it has gotten to 35 below here in all fairness. If it happened to all the pixels that would be one thing though, but having the middle of the display drop out while the rest works makes me nervous.

I will get that fixed at the 30K service.

I believe there is a problem with your radio. My friend had the same problem. The dealer replaced a new updated radio for him.
