Did you check the owners manual? It may be something you can take to the dealer and have them disable.

Yes I checked both books. I love this SUV so far. There is just way to many bells and whistles. The vehicle is extremely technology heavy. I can tell you that Volvo has really been stung by over teching the cars.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

You'll get used to it. I went from a Nissan XTerra to my X3 so you can imagine the jump I made in technology.

I use my PDC all the time and if I don't need it I have a button I can press to disengage it for the time being (I don't know much about the X5 so I'm not sure if you have the same feature). I use it to park my car in the garage, for pulling into a parking space that has a lamp post or other object or for parallel parking. Living in Germany it is almost a must have because parking is such a pain!

Give it some time, you may get used to it and might even use it at times. Like I said, it makes parking in my garage so much easier!

..you can install a disconnect switch by going under your dash, removing the panel above the pedals, remove the bell from it's connections and remove the bell/speaker--open it up by prying 4 tabs...inside are two wires--red / blue. Cut the red, splice in a line to a switch and mount the switch with a dremel on the dash where your left knee would be...I did this so I can listen to tunes with my door open...works well, also disables PDC bell....

MDK5623, You know I’ve work on auto’s most of my life 4 FUN. If I wasn’t wrenching on a German snow cat or and old Porsche I wasn’t happy. I always appreciate a good solution. Thank you very much, I will fine the Red wire and cut and I think drink a good Red glass in your honor.
