Hi Guys

I have a newbie question: What plugs to use with a 325iS Turbo running T04B turbo, low compression pistons, 750 injectors and GoTech Management????

500 miles and they're done.

I've tried:
NGK - BP9ES, BCPR7ES, BCPR7ET, BCPR6ET
Champion - C9YC, RC9YCC, Ions RC9Y
Bosch - F7DC, F6DC

All have failed my 500mile test.

Car begins to splutter, my knock link begins to flicker and I know its time to replace plugs.

I'm running 0.8bar boost and I am planning to run double that with a 6 fogger Edelbrock wet system. My internals have managed so far - Wisecos, stock rods, ARP bolts, ARP head stud kit, Redline 3 layer steel gasket, double valve springs and 270 Evo2 cams.

My 12.6 was done with a stock 5 speed sport box and street tyres, 1 run only. 2nd run, I broke the 2nd gear.

I have since acquired a 3.2 e36 M3 6 Speed box and intend running slicks at 1.6bar boost and about 100Hp shot of NOS.

Once my Trix drag suspension is fitted I am aiming at low 10s.

The car is otherwise standard so there is a lot of weight reduction to be had. Ive already sourced a fibre bonnet, bootlid and perspex windows.

The drag suspension should also shed considerable weight off the stock pressed steel arms and linkages.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think most of use the iridiums.IK22

I'm guessing the 22's are a step colder than the IK20's right?

Iridium is a metal. The only companies I know that sell iridium plugs are NGK and Denso

This place carries specialty plugs. Here's the link to the seasrch I did for the p/n that ~U~ (Card Counter) recommended.

you've got an M20. Would be helpful info to have up front. the M20's and M50's use slightly different plugs. I've had good luck with a few different plugs.
The stock plugs for an M20 are W9LCR. I'd suggest WR6DP's or maybe WR6DC's if you can't find the other.

try the NGK BKR8EIX that is 2 steps colder then stock and should run well in your setup. also what gap are you running?

Out of the NGK's, I've tried the BCPR7ES, BCPR7ET, BCPR6ES, BCPR6ET and BP7C.

Bosch, F6DC, FR6DC, FR7DC, tried them too.

Champions, tried RC9Y, RC9YCC, C9 Eons as well.

Whenever I go race I play it safe, I replace plugs. Also running MSD ignition with new OEM leads.

General gaps are 0.6 to 0.7mm

all of the plugs you have tried would be at least 2 heat ranges too hot for boosted engine, try champion RC5Y, should be about right

Strangely enough, the car performs consistently well with these plugs and my only problem is - the never last more than about 500 miles/800kms...

I've tried colder plugs before but the car splutters.

NGK makes Iridiums, but the IK22 that was mentioned is the Denso Iridium plug in the correct heat range for our boosted cars. they can be gotten in a .028" gap.

Back in the driver's seat again :)

Smoked an E39 M5 with NOS last night over a standing mile.
