xkaharianx 03-20-2006, 10:41 PM bump, i think many people just cant drive, the day i went to the strip, there were many mustang gt the same as the 2000 model, and all of them, i mean all of them, were running 15.1~15.5, there was even a 94 z28 6 speed running 15.4. those are suppose to run a high 13.
My friend went with me, and he ran his auto z28 95' and ran a best time of 14.6. i think be can get it down to 14.0 with practice.
Hey i think i can too. haha i beat be 3 out of 4 runs
onewhippedpuppy 03-20-2006, 11:05 PM Damn, you're braver than I. Clutches, half shafts, transmissions and CV joints don't care for drag racing, especially on German cars. Drag racing is one thing they don't design for.
xkaharianx 03-20-2006, 11:32 PM are our cars own for snaping half shafts and busting up cv joints? the clutch fine i can understand but the transmission as a whole? maybe if you $$$ shift, i dont think my cars has quite enough power yet (HAHA evil grin) to do that straight up without misshifting.
onewhippedpuppy 03-21-2006, 12:01 AM No, but our cars aren't known as drag racers either. More power to you, it's your car. Rear wheel drive cars with IRS are known for busting half shafts and CV joints after repeated hard launches, at least more so than a solid rear axle. Hard shifts under power can accelerate syncro wear in the transmission.
xkaharianx 03-21-2006, 03:02 AM ok i need to be taught, what is an IRS, besides the tax guys? what is that?
i dont know how most people run their cars hard, but i dont believe in power shifting, its against my religion. no but really, i'd hate to do it, so i dont. i fully clutch every shift. i figure, the clutch is cheaper to replace the a whole tranny.
Btw drag racing my car is a rare thing anyway, maybe i will go to the strip once every 4-6 months. so maybe twice a year. even though i know it only takes one time to break something. but if i thought that way i would ever drive my car, which defeats the whole purpose of having a 540. why have 282hp and never use it. maybe i should have gotten a 525...j/k
