I am not sure if this has been posted before but I thought I would share....

I installed the OEM BT kit into my wife's X3 today. For the most part the install went fine and the kit works peerfectly. Now here is the surprise. When I went to install the BT antenna (it is installed on the driver side c-pillar) I discovered that the car already had at BT antenna installed :confused .....

If I had known that, I would have bought all of the pieces separately. So now I have a spare BT antenna......

Can you post the details (pics, process, part numbers) of your install? I would like to add this to the wife's X3.

Thanks in advance!

I will have to did up the instructions that the dealer gave me (I don't think I threw them away), but it was a very easy install.

You can get the install kit from the dealer, however, you may already have the BT antenna, as I discovered, in which case it may be cheaper to buy the parts separately.

Let me see what I can find.....

I did not have time to scan in the entire document. But here are the first two pages with the parts information. The install is really easy though. All you do is take apart the upper portion of the center console to install the insert for the eject box and the eject box, remove the driver side c-pillar to install the BT antenna, remove the sunroof switch console to install the mic, and remove a panel in the cargo compartment area on the driver's side corner to install the BT ULF module.

Yup, the bluetooth antenna is already installed. It's a fairly easy install...you do have to have the car recoded though. Dealer charged me an hour to do that.

Actually, I didn't need to have my car re-coded. I found that out when I first installed a BT kit in my 2005 E46. If the car comes pre-wired from the factory for phone, all you should have to do is follow the pairing instructions (which come with the install instructions) and you are done.

When I had bluetooth in my e46..no coding was necessary. However, for the X3, the car needs to be coded if it doesn't have bluetooth
